How does this season improve our program’s status in the history of college football in terms of all-time program ranking

And it would be a tie if not for a wayward (according to the refs) Oklahoma State FG.

If LSU wins 2011, Les is probably still our coach right now.

Correct answer. Should have NEVER had to play them 2 times. Beat em at their house. BS complete BS.

We really should be judging these by ESPNs FPI rating. It’s the only true way to see who the better team is.

You're probably right about that. Who knows what would have happened the last 3 1/2 seasons in that case.

I think I read somewhere that only Miami has done this until now. 3 coaches in a row win NC's.

I think 2019 season counts as 2 titles given LSU dominance

I agree with the other posters in this thread. Never forget, never let it go, no more mulligans ever again! All that being said in my mind it’s four to four tie between the Gumps and us.

3/4 in 18 years is even MORE impressive.

As much as I liked Les, if this were still the case, we would still be at 3 NCs. As much as the anger from that year got to me, and still kind of do when I thought about it, last night erased it all for me. I love where we are and where it looks like we are headed much better than where I believe we would be with Les still running the ship

Technically USC has zero. 2004 was vacated which was all they had.

Yes, and I think the different coaches fact is something that isn't emphasized enough. 3 titles in the last 17 years with three different AND consecutive HCs. That is the mark of a great program. As good as Saban's run at Bama has been, it's all him, he is the run. Once he's gone, his successor probably won't win a NC, nor will Dabo's at Clemson.

Big nod to all the LSU ADs and administrators who have helped to keep this program going on this amazing BCS/CFP era for LSU. And of course thanks to Saban, Miles, O and their players and staffs.

Let's keep it going, Coach O.
