He’s quickly establishing himself as one of the best AD’s in the Country.
Come home Scott.

Not just in the SEC.

He also managed to hire Petersen at Washington after a lot of other top tier programs couldn’t.

7.5M for 10 years is what got it done. don't think he could do that at LSU. Let's say Jimbo had average 3 years to start with.

Here we go time to stay off the rant for a few days. Alleva very well could’ve dished out $75 million dollars over 10 years for Jimbo fricking Fisher but I’m pretty glad that he chose not to. Could he have made a better hire than Orgeron? Absolutely. But putting your program’s 25+ year future on one person who has a myriad of personal issues and hasn’t done shite without Jameis Winston isn’t really a wise decision in my eyes, but I’m sure all of the morons on here are going to cry their eyes out over it so carry on

ETA: responded to the wrong person. I think Woodward is a very good AD for reasons other than this move FWIW. The job he did at Washington was phenomenal and he gave Aggy what they wanted which is I guess all you can ask for.

If given the choice of staying at A&M or going to work with F. King Alexander, a Bd. of Supervisors still dominated by Jindal appointees and the budget uncertainties of the State of Louisiana, what would you do?

I'm sure that's why we pay our coordinators so fricking much.

If you think that spending $75,000,000 on a guy who’s coming off a 4-6 season, plays games that hurt the university EVERY offseason, is going through a bunch of personal shite and hasn’t recruited particularly well this season, hasn’t proven that he can hire good coordinators, and would make a sub-lateral move for whatever reason as soon as the going gets tough is “shooting for greatness” then I’m not sure what to tell you.

Every single person on this forum wants LSU to get back to winning national championships, and we don’t need to make an Aggy-esque desperation Hail Mary hire that could screw us for a LONG time to seem relevant. If we’re going to potentially financially destroy the program, then we should do it over the next Saban, Meyer, Swinney, etc. and not the guy that I outlined above. Sumlin killed it with a heisman winner and look how he’s doing now. I just don’t think that going all in for a guy who needs a Heisman caliber QB to be successful is a smart move considering how hard those are to come by, it’s no different than going all in on a guy who needs top tier coordinators every single season to be successful. The house of cards is going to fall eventually (like it already did at FSU) if it even gets built in the first place under that kind of system

Agree with LSUGRAD. There are plenty of reasons to fire "I am the Search", but not paying all that money to Fisher is not one of them.
Hiring The Orgeron will suffice as a very good reason for firing Alleva, however....

Why would he come here? A&M has money and people willing to spend to get the right guys in place. They may not work out, but at least they are going to try. Meanwhile, at LSU, the administration is telling the government that the school athletic programs might be shut down because they're so poor. Nobody in their right mind would leave to come to that.

I like our coach better than theirs. $75 m investment on a coach whose team 100% quit on him. Nah.

You are excited about a guy that just gave out a 10 year contract? You don't think LSU could have had him for 10yrs and 7.5 million a year? Get back to me in 3 years when everyone is wanting him gone and they still owe him 50+ million. No coach is worth a giant contract over 10 years in today's football.

I know 2, and they were on the same staff of the Cleveland Browns...
