Your defending Lone Star Alliance D1 Conference Champions take the field tonight to defend their 1st ever title vs. visiting the Razorbacks.
Let's #GeauxTigers
MCLA season starts tonight
ETA: for those that might not know, the LSU Lacrosse program is predominantly player funded. There are some funds that do come from LSU/UREC Sports budget, but they barely scratch the surface of the season's needs for uniforms, equipment, game officials, buses, hotels, meals, coaches, etc. Players dues range approx. $1500-$1800/player with a heavy emphasis on fundraising via online opportunities & the team merch store. They also spend a fair amount of commjnity service-most recently notablly they distributed water at the marathon last weekend.
These guys bust their asses the represent the purple & gold for the sport they love.

Isn't it more of an activity than a sport?

Looks like we've got players heavy from LA but definitely a strong spread across the country. What manner of recruiting can they manage?

I find it entertaining to watch in the football offseason. Id rather watch it than basketball.

The sport is experiencing a massive boom over the last decade. With the price of equipment dropping & more attention spent within on players turning in to coaches + refs, it will keep rising.
Many smaller colleges are adding mens &/or womens lacrosse to increase school enrollment as well.

Head Coach Shane Koppens is a former MLL & NCAA D1 player from Loyola (MD). He also currently runs FTK Lacrosse which is a regional + nationally teaveling club program. He has all the contacts with event directors at every major lacrosse recruiting event in the country. Conservatively, I would say that lends him access to at least 15,000 current seniors, juniors, & sophomore lacrosse players across the country who are actively searching for a college to play lacrosse at.
Landing 1 player from the top 10-15 (there's at least 40 states actiavely playing competitive HS lacrosse) HS lacrosse playing states in the country of a caliber of all district award winner or better is a strong possibility given LSU's national exposure.

I hope you guys have another great season! Have y’all considered another merchandise sale?

My son played in high school, and as a kid I watched it on ESPN (this was back before they landed the "marquee" sports, and showed stuff like lacrosse, volleyball, and kickboxing).
For the uninitiated, it's sorta like soccer or hockey (more like hockey tbh). Athletically it's going to be a lot of guys who might be football skill players, WRs and secondary types. They can hit harder than in soccer, but not quite as rough as football.
Ball movement, reminds me a lot of college basketball before the 3 pt shot, lots of peripheral movement and getting the ball inside. Hockey obviously too.
I think LSU is wasting a good marketing opportunity, by not doing a closer copy to the football color schemes. Honestly think the casual SEC viewer would stop and watch on the SEC Network if he saw "traditional" looking uniforms for schools.

I'm just an old crusty alum now. Happy to spread the word.
I do know they are executing an online fundraiser campaign to get them back to the National Tourney in the event they repeat as conference champs or earn at at large bid. The link to the fundraiser can be found on their FB page (linked in the OP). Unfortunately, we have learned that posting the direct links to things like that on TS violates some LSU student club fundraising rules.
The FB & Twitter accounts will definitely post updates to any new runs of the merch store.

Are you serious? Man, frick the UREC and their ridiculous rules.
It's not like you're auctioning off players. (RIP LSU Rugby Auction).

Joe from Duke hurt the sport badly.

I grew up around the Duke lacrosse case... a lot of lessons learned with that. I still don't know how LSU hired Alleva after all that.
