Basketball rankings are so silly. UK drops to 6 and LSU can only get to 14 with a win over them on the fricking road. Teams like Purdue and Texas Tech and even North Carolina shouldn't be ranked over LSU at this point.

Kentucky and LSU could have the same 5 game stretch of teams and both go 5-0 with the exact same margin of victory and Kentucky would move up 10 spots while LSU moved up 4. Its the reality of the situation. As long as we're in the tournament who cares?

Absolutely. I took a few minutes and reviewed Texas Tech and Purdue's schedule/results. Not only do the both have some ugly losses, their wins aren't impressive either.

Purdue has played five Top 20 teams and lost to all of them but one. Yet according to NET they are the 11th best team in the country.

Texas Tech is somehow the NET 10th best team despite being also being 1-4 vs ranked teams. Their "marquee win" was against Kansas State.

Purdue and Texas Tech are decent enough teams, but Top 10? Come on...

As long as LSU gets a fair shake in seeding, IDGAF

This is kind of where NET loses me a bit.

UK only falls one spot to 6, while LSU only rises to 14. Maybe that is reasonable...until you start to compare the raw numbers.

UK:

20-4; SOS: 31; Non-conf. SOS: 24; Road record: 6-1; record away from home (includes neutral site games): 7-3; Q1 record: 7-3

That's a very strong resume. But let's compare it to a team 8 spots below, LSU.

LSU:

20-4; SOS: 12; Non-conf. SOS: 9; Road record: 6-1; record away from home (includes neutral site games): 8-3; Q1 record: 6-2

How can there be so much separation between two almost identical resumes? In fact, LSU, not UK, has played the significantly stronger schedule.

The only answer has to be the predictive metrics: KenPom, BPI, etc.

With the win last night LSU moved...nowhere on KenPom. They remained at 20. Likewise, UK didn't move either. The reason is that LSU has won a bunch of close games lately while teams like UK, Purdue, etc. have had some blowout wins mixed in. Hell, Auburn is 6 spots ahead of LSU on KenPom. Texas is only 8 spots back and they are 14-11!!

Hopefully the committee balances the ratings metrics with the results metrics. Right now, even at a 4 seed, LSU is being undersold.

Basketball rankings have never made much since to me. I think the rankings are biased and will always be justified by any metrics no matter how big or small they really are

So proud of this team......
Imagine the what ifs.
Really outside of the Oklahoma State and Mizzou(comback win) this team could very well be 22-2 or 23-1. Props to Coach Wade and these LSU Tigers! The sky is the limit with this team!

NET is ridiculous. We're at #6 in the latest RPI. That's more like it.
