Les also won more games while here than another other SEC school and played in as many or more NCGs as 99% of schools

there it is....like this has anything to do with the program now.

I don’t think anyone is arguing the downward trend didn’t start under Les.

Some of the posts I've seen recently are hinting at just this idea.

I'll argue it.

People cite our SEC record as the primary example of the downward trend

We went 5-3, 4-4, 5-3 in 2013-2015. Where as two of those years indicates a downtrend, the latest year indicates a rebound. If Les is allowed to finish out 2016, is it a stretch to say he loses two SEC games that year? That's 6-2, which would've continued the upwards trajectory.

And good lord, I'm betting he's wishing he got to face 5 coaches that got fired. He would've had a good shot at the division title last year.

The evidence of a downtrend simply isn't there as far as the record goes. I'll await your rebuttal.

You start off with facts and then post this...that is nothing more than unsubstantiated opinion.

quote:

5-3, 4-4, 5-3

this is not elite by any standard.

2-2 after 4 games in 2016 with a mess at the QB position.
There is no way to predict where we would have finished.

You're projecting what you would have wanted to happen into the equation.

IF we fall below 8-4 and Sopsher, Emery, Cain, Lee and Palmer get away, there's nothing else you can sell to the fans. We were promised great classes from "THE CLOSER" and the "BEST ASSISTANTS". Kiffin was coming. He failed to bring in a stellar class last year. It would be time to cut bait in the AD & HC.

The teams O played in 2016 with record and rush defense ranking:

W Missouri 4-8 (2-6) #118
W Southern Miss 7-6 (4-4) #53
W Ole Miss 5-7 (2-6) #117

L Alabama 14-1 (8-0) #1

W Arkansas 7-6 (3-5) #89
L Florida 9-4 (6-2) #34
W Texas A&M 8-5 (4-4)#84

O did NOTHING that Miles wouldn't have done and likely did worse. He ran up stats against TERRIBLE run defenses to dazzle idiots like you and Alleva and couldn't get wins against the better teams that he played AT HOME.

And what do you mean mess at the QB situation?

O didn’t change anything there. Etling was already starting and continued to.

Most of what's posted on this board is unsubstantiated opinion. Orgeron got and has retained his job based on unsubstantiated opinion.

O can swindle LSU out of millions off of unsubstantiated opinions but it's out of bounds for me to say how Les might have done that year?

Who said elite anything? I'm just disputing the "downtrend" claim. There was a downtrend, and it had been apparently halted.

2-2 having faced two of our 3 toughest opponents, would you not agree?

Of course, but people do that on this board all the time, right? How is what I project any less valid than someone projecting Orgeron to do well? My projections are supported by the weak defensive numbers of the teams that O got to face after Miles was fired though.

Haha. If we miss on all 3 RB's the staff should be cleaned out save Aranda and Raymond.

I have to hand it to Alleva. His plan of firing Les before he got to face those weak teams worked out like a charm.

It fooled the simpletons into thinking that O turned the team around.
