if he can’t break top 5 with the instate talent this cycle then it would be a disappointment. I thought O could at least bring in top 5 classes maybe I was wrong.

What if we end up with 288 points? That would be our 3rd highest class this decade, but could very realistically be the 6th best class this year.

In 2017, our class was 7th with 287 points. Last year, that same class would have been 5th. So, last year, that class would have been acceptable, but in 2017 it would be considered below average?

I do agree with others (RB10) that losing head to head battles with Saban, Jimbo and Kirby, especially for Louisiana guys, is unacceptable. But, if we're holding our own on guys we're going head to head against those guys for, I don't think it makes much difference if we finish a handful of points below them (other than bragging rights).

I don’t think #6 ranked class is a lowered bar. I do see what your saying though.

It’s a bumper crop / banner year, he needs to take advantage of the talent in state.

If they finish number 9 but land Emery, Sospher, Ray Parker, Christian Harris, Palmer and Lee then I’ll be ecstatic about this class.

In all honesty he can lose on Palmer and Lee because of Chase and Marshall. Losing the #1 RB and DT our of south Louisiana should be seen as an enormous fail though.

There’s a long ways to go but they put their selves in an unnecessary bind because of piss poor planning.

Do you win a prize or something?

You are getting the same caliber of player whether you are 3rd or 5th

The notion that a 5th ranked class would be a success but a 6th ranked one would be a massive failure says a lot about your logic,

LSU would have to land the entire top 10 from LA to achieve this, including flipping Emery. That also would be a 26 commit class.

In a race, you're measured against your competition, not against some number.

You shouldn't be talking about anyone's logic with dumbass statements like the one above.

LSU has an awesome and beautiful campus and also has big plans to make it even better. I can't argue the academics but people are in awe of LSU's campus. Especially people who have never been there before. It's gorgeous. Whoever planted all of those oak trees 100 years ago needs a damn award.

It's amazing Saban was able to recruit at such a high level here given that Baton Rouge sucks and LSU has nothing to offer compared to Ga, aggies, bama, etc.

I guess we should just accept that it's simply not Orgerons fault and there's nothing he can do about it. Saban must have just been lucky when he was here.

Wade is getting lucky too apparently or does LSU basketball have as much to offer as Kentucky and Duke? Bc that's who he's going toe to toe with for prospects and he's getting his share. Simply amazing how elite coaches can recruit championship classes.

Eaux is a championship coach right?

So what you are saying is we can’t beat teams that finish ahead of us in recruiting, even if it’s one or 2 spots?

What do you think the difference is between a 3rd ranked class & a 5th ranked one?

You think Ed Orgeron is going to outcoach Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisher on a consistent basis with a less talented roster?

Again, please stop questioning other people's logic. It's getting embarrassing.

You and Red should get together. He thinks the whole recruiting program is a waste of time and money. Kids grow up knowing where they want to go, and nothing can persuade them otherwise.

Nice stretch arse! I don't think that at all, but not having an event one weekend shouldn't matter for a kid with such an important decision. If it is, they were never coming here!

We don't have a coach that can compensate for simply being equal in talent. We have to be better.

SInce the other guy is scared maybe you could better explain (generally) what the difference is between the 5th & 6th ranked class each year?

Well, this isn't a very good analogy. In a race there's only one winner. In recruiting there can be many winners. I can't say that the football players that we recruited are worse than the football players that someone else recruited because we finished 5 points below them in the final class rankings.

As long as we're getting the guys we want and holding our own against the heavy hitters, I'll be happy.

LSU and uga are on two different levels right now. Elite and not elite. The difference isn’t a bitch excuse. It’s legitimate

I guess this means you're "scared" to answer my question then?

You feel that being 4th in the conference, 3rd in the division, is going to be good enough? Hell, it's even simple yes or no answer.

Every time LSU gets a commit, Eds face is plastered all over the home page. No other LSU coach has gotten so much love for so little.

I found your problem, because we haven't for a long time. The question becomes what's been done that makes people think this is going to change any time soon?
