Most since 2007.

They are 50th in the nation in plays per game.

Here's where they ranked the last 5 years

2017: 101
2016: 123
2015: 114
2014: 86
2013: 108

How's everyone feeling about the quicker pace for the offense?

It's an interesting wrinkle when we get going.

I do wonder if we'll try to slow it down against Alabama and play keep away.

We also actually have 1415 passing yards and and 1415 rushing yards this year. Quite the coincidence.

I think the key is to not be predictable when you're going to run tempo or play keep away

Keep the defense completely off guard

They seem to have a good mix of plays in the hurry up sets. They do more in the passing game than most college teams will instead of running a small set of mostly run plays.

Think the quick pace caught them off guard on one of the scoring drives in the first half.

I think this LSU team matches up best with Alabama if they limit substitutions and play fast. Alabama's second team is 5-stars, so just play fast and wear them out.

I don’t want to be Debbie downer, but the play calling against UF was bad.

but "we have no identity" "O and Ensminger don't even know what offense they want" etc. etc.

You're not wrong. Being a 7PM CBS game should still garner plenty of rest for the defense.

That's still true. We don't really have an identity, which I guess you could say is our identity in and of itself.

For a shot stretch maybe

It was good for 80% of the game

They also have a solid defense. Sometimes you have to tip your hat to the other team.

Exactly. You are not going to wear out Alabama over the course of the game...but, playing fast and limiting substitutions may allow you to catch them off guard a few times. UGA was flat out caught stone cold dead on a few plays where they tried to sub and got caught offset.

There were issues, but I think he was more inconsistent than bad. The first two drives were scripted well, but he spent too much time trying to re-establish the run after that vs a D Line that we just didn’t match up well against.

That said, Ensminger dialed up three nice long pass plays in the 2nd half that weren’t executed. 2 drops (1 was dead in the hands for a 1st down) and a 3rd called back for holding. If the players make those plays, his game plan probably ends up looking better, and we probably aren’t scrambling to come back at the end.

Ensminger’s flow and balance were better vs UGA, and he was consistent. There weren’t any huge lulls or ultra conservative stretches. I definitely agree he did a lot better this week.
