If I was a professor of organizational psychology or related field, I could spend an entire class period discussing Miles, LSU, and the pitfalls of nepotism and cronyism.

A few insiders benefitting while the organization as a whole suffers and fails.

Case in point: Cam Cameron

How this guy makes one of the highest OC salaries in CFB while producing one of the worst offenses in CFB is absolutely mind-boggling. But when you remember that him and Les are pals, it makes complete sense. LSU's offense has been a literal punchline for years, and nobody is held accountable because, hey, who wants to yell at and/or fire their friends? Nobody.

And from Cameron's side, who wants to tell their friend (who's also their boss) that their system isn't working and they need to get out of the way. Again, nobody.

That's why you don't hire friends.

And Alleva either lacked the leadership or was too oblivious to allow this to happen under his watch.

Don't use fancy words here. Miles doesn't understand you.

My father always said LSU would never win an NC because of the"politics" in and around LSU and BR...this was in the 60's, 70's & 80's...he died in 2010 at the age of 90 and I was so glad he was able to see the 2003 & 2007 seasons. He loved Saban because he was the one who came onto the scene and tore the "old boy" system apart. Sadly, it is back again.

If Cam were fired tomorrow, he couldn't replace half his income in a new coaching job.

If Miles were fired tomorrow, he couldn't replace half his income in a new coaching job.

That's really all you need to know

LSU Chancellor Mark Emmert, who was hired in 1999, was largely responsible for raising LSU to the next level both in academics and athletics. I don't think anyone can deny LSU was much better off by the time he left just five years later. We need a guy like that again.

Nepotism? Cronyism? You don't know what these words mean. You think coaches don't hire people with whom they're familiar, even friends? I hate to declare Cameron incompetent because there are so many other factors, but the evidence suggests as much. I don't believe Les would sink his program and his career to maintain a friendship. These guys know how the coaching game is played.
