Before this weekend I was afraid we would end up 4th ish and that would be tough to overcome at NC's, I know it is supposed to be a "clean start" but let's face it, the judges know the rankings. If we can hold onto 2 or even 3, I think we can win it. (obviously)

One question, does our last NonConf meet count in the final rankings? Tigerbait357, you know MUCH more than me, if you had to pick a team other than OU who could win it (other than us) who would it be? And, should we root for another SEC team to make it to finals in NC or not? I have to think if UF makes it we look better because we beat them? Yes?

I know you didn’t ask me, but I think any of the Top 5 has a chance of winning, the least so Utah IMO and other than us and OU, I’d say UCLA has the biggest chance. Florida has been very inconsistent. Low road scores, inflated home scores it seems, losing Kennedy didn’t help, but they have the ability to win.

Next week is another chance to raise our RQS if we put up a major road score, which can definitely be done but LSU is sitting is a fantastic position now, we will finish in the top 3 in RQS as we hit post season.

The reality is none of this will matter in a month when teams enter semifinals and super six. It all comes down to who performs the best the day of super six. LSU could have a melt down, OU could have a meltdown, UCLA could have a melt down. Anything can happen is what I'm saying.

At the moment there are three teams who I think are major favorites for a national title. Its OU, UCLA and LSU. Utah hasn't quite put up those major scores yet not that they aren;t capable but still haven't done it quite yet. Florida can match OU or LSU if everyone hits their routines. Issue with them is they have been extremely inconsistent all season, and now they head into the last part of the season with a loss of a major senior contributor.

OU is the favorite as of now but LSU and UCLA have matched and put up scores on the same level as them too. UCLA has improved their difficulty and execution on vault this year and has improved their floor.

LSU was able to hit a 198 again yesterday with another subpar vault performance which speaks volumes of how much we can still improve and build upon our team score. LSU needs to score at least a 49.400 on vault to be able win a national title.

The key for LSU over the next 3 weeks is to Fix Campbell's beam routine, for Desiderio to finally hit her second tumbling pass to add another 9.9+ score on floor and to stick a couple more vaults. If LSU can do this as we enter the final week of the season, we can definitely win a national title. Bars has held LSU back in Super Six many times but we are a lot better on this event this year.

I'm not a coach, but Kentucky should put the best players on one team to improve their chances

Also, Sarah Edwards. How good can she be? Her energy is awesome.

The biggest factor might be how LSU starts. The last two years they have fallen behind early and made a furious run to the finish to take runner ups. That final vault rotation to close out 2016 was breathtaking and they very nearly won the title but the Oklahoma vanilla yet steady floor allowed them to hang on t win it. It would be great for LSU to finish on floor with the lead and the national championship there for the taking. Imagine closing it out from ahead with Lexie, Edney, Finnegan and Hambrick. Oh, Myia!!!

I honestly think Sydney and Shae's shaky start on floor last year at Super Six completely sucked the life and momentum out the team, the team pressed pretty quickly after. It took a couple rotations to finally regroup and perform like they normally did.

But LSU does need a fast start that sparks a lot confidence early on. LSU hasn't started hot the last couple times, we've put ourselves in miniholes that take us time to work out of.

It'll be interesting to see what rotation we start on

Maybe this is the year all the stars align just right. Three years ago they were done early whe they had falls from beam. In 2016 it was early bars which put them in a hole. Last year Sydney stepping out and Shae getting wobbly put them behind in what should have been possibly their strong suit. Oklahoma is always consistent but they are human and its time for them to stumble a time or two, maybe just enough to open the door for others.

Maybe they (Oklahoma) will have 3 gymnasts fall on beam like they had a few weeks ago against Nebraska and have to count 2 falls on beam?

I was just saying that whenever Sydney started rough on floor... it was going to be a rough rotation. Id love Olympic order because if we start on one of our best events, the scoring is likely tougher. If we could end on Floor or Bars, we could be in great shape!

Another decision LSU will need to make is do we try to add another 1 1/2 on vault instead of a regular yurchenko full.

I say this because across the entire country the full has been judged and deducted extremely harshly this year.

Heading into post season Ruby, Edwards, Hambrick, and Edney will compete 1 1/2s.

Lexie is a question mark still. Do we roll Cannamela out with a 1 1/2? I think we should see how she competes it over the next two weekend. If she has success, I say go for it. If not then we can just go back to the full.

4 10.0 vaults is good, we just need some of the 1 1/2s to finally stick

How Julianna and Sarah score those consistently.... I’d leave them alone lol even though Julianna’s 1.5 did not look bad at all.

Scores during the regular season are a little different from how they score in post season. Its much more strict for every detail. Between vault distance, height, form, feet in the air, any type of pike in the vault, chest location.

I just know at Super Six the scores will be much much tighter. Especially for the basic yurchenko fulls. Last year a lot of teams were hammered on vault, I remember UCLA in particular had some pretty low scores. Last year LSU had 5/6 vaulters who competed 1 1/2s, no one stuck it unfortunately. DD has emphasized the need for more of these vaults because she knows the full tends to be hammered a lot more in comparison to 1 1/2 come post season. At the same time, you need to be confident and consistent and thats a major factor in what we will decide

I'd like to see Julianna compete that vault a couple more times just to have a better idea. I've seen some phenomenal vaults from her in practice but its very different to compete in front of a live crowd.

Either way the reality is LSU will need to stick some vaults

If Julianna's 1.5 had a good block and she kept good form, then she should stick with it. If it doesn't look ready then go back to the full which she can stick. I say let her keep plugging away at the 1.5, even in prelims at NCAAs and then make a game time decision. Maybe we will vault in the final rotation and not need 9.9+ scores to win and we can go with consistent fulls from Finnegan and Cannamela. Wouldn't that be nice?

To the person who said Oklahoma may fall...yes...but I don't want to win like that. I want to earn it and win it outright. I don't want anyone to say we only won because OU messed up. Look at our performance during prelims last year. Would have won a National title any prior year.

I just read an article that said we could see Dean in a beam lineup while we rest some athletes. Although it makes me stoked to see Dean, it’s sinking in that I’ll probably won’t see Li compete another beam routine again. Then it makes me feel kinda salty about it, because what a waste of a beautiful beam routine that just sat on the sidelines during her last elligible year. As the weeks go by, I’m starting to think it would have been better to have that routine in the lineup verses the inconsistent 5th routine up.
