LSU football: the SEC's most underrated team in 2021?

USA Today makes the case;
“Was their perfect 2019 season a combination of raw talent from Burrow and friends, and the outstanding coaching from Joe Brady — both of which are now in the NFL spotlight? Is Ed Orgeron going to be on the hot seat? Do they have a quarterback with enough swagger to lead the team to victory?

Yes, the 2019 LSU team is arguably the greatest of all time, but I don’t think that’s the end of LSU football making a run in the post-season. After their hibernation of a 2020 season, the Tigers have the majority of their team returning, as well as some fresh and fire talent piling in — coaches and players alike”

I do think LSU will progress into a very good team as the season goes on. They might even make the playoffs. I worry about the first game though, with almost a whole new coaching staff and little experience at linebacker.

I really think whoever wins the starting position at qb we’ll be fine, but establishing a run game I think will be key. Both QBs can sling it for the offense just need to see emery and tdp really turn a corner this year.

I think TDP has already proven himself to be very good and Emery has had flashes. Maybe it's my P&G glasses but I see Emery having a breakout year this year.

My guess is the floor is 10 wins and the ceiling is the CFP.

I feel a sneaky very good season coming on. The only big issue I see is middle linebacker we’ve had complete studs there our last few seasons. Will one develop hopefully but that is our glaring weakness right now.

I put a hundred on us to win it all, so I hope we do.

Yet everyone bitches about last season when no one returned and expected us to be world beaters.

Maybe Clemson transfer Mike Jones Jr will step up

We are almost always very good when they have chip on their shoulder. Auburn and LSU are almost always good when picked to suck

I like both of our QBs. In a regular year with OOC opponents, we could have been 9-4 or better last year... not much worse than the 2018 team.

Part of it was the blowout losses. Auburn was an embarrassment. Saban showed mercy.
Any loss to Missouri is an embarrassment. The coaching was a shiiite show from top down. Talent is there, can O coach them up.

If we don’t beat them or score the winning TD a second late, we seem to get blown out.

I still don’t understand the fear of running the ball or the sudden scoring drought at the end of the Missouri game.

From a talent standpoint this team should beat every team on its schedule not named Alabama, but it will be dependent on whether the coordinators we just hired are up to the job.
