AP Top 25

UGA #7 (Tied with UF)
UCF #11

Also:
Miss. State & Auburn received votes

Fun season, but looking back at a 2-3 record vs end-of-year Top 25 doesn't look too impressive.

With that being said, I like the recruiting O is doing. I think he's on the right track to winning championships. He needs to get some of the draft-eligible players to return and shape up some of the bigs in the trenches. If that happens, LSU is going to scare some people next year.

Here's the rub:

If LSU beats aTm, they possibly do not end the season ranked in the top 25.

If Auburn had beaten LSU, they probably do end up in the top 25.

We started #25 and finished #6. Job well done this year. I’m satisfied as long as we continue to make strides and improvements to beat Alabama and compete for national championships.

If Devin White returns I think we have a shot to win it all with our schedule.

But still ranked #6 in the same poll, ahead of 2/3 teams we lost to

It's crazy that we finished above Florida with the same record and having lost to them.

This is exactly what I posted after last season.

O is now 4-8 against teams that finish the season ranked (4-9 if you want to talk about how “good” Troy was even though they were never ranked at any point). Until he gets better against the good teams we will never achieve the things he was supposedly hired to do.

That said, 2-3 this year is better than 1-3 last year, so TIncline is real?

With everything we bring back things really appear to be set up pretty well for O to finally prove he can raise the level of the program closer to what it once was.

Honestly, I think Joe Burreaux gave LSU the Midwest AP votes. It's the same "Charles Woodson Bump" that lost Peyton Manning the Heisman.

If LSU had the same season with Justin McMillan at QB, LSU finishes out of the Top 10.

This methodology is completely useless when evaluating a team. So we expose Auburn and Miami, other teams follow suit, but somehow making Auburn and Miami easier for other teams to beat is a mark against LSU? The evaluation fails logical tests. It's the sort of analysis ESPN uses to make up stuff to talk about. It's pointless to attempt to draw conclusions from this info. What matters is how good a team was at the time of the game. Claiming wins, or explaining losses, based on events weeks and months after the game is doing nothing but providing evidence to fit whatever narrative is being pushed.

That's because the polls reflect the season as a whole.....not just one game.
