What's been going around is that basically they are the gestapo whose requirements are way more stringent than comparable universities, to the point where coaches feel like they are actively working against the success of the our athletic programs.

If true, why is this happening? who is behind this? Why isn't our administration fostering an environment where LSU can be as successful as possible?

It’s been going on for years...but I really can’t figure out why.

It’s like they get off by playing “gotcha” with student athletes, especially football.

BUMP

This is a real issue and one that needs to be rectified.

Probably to avoid a SMU, Ole Miss, Penn St. situation. Better question is, why can't the players follow simple school and team rules? I think too many would sacrifice their integrity to win a championship (see Alabama).

It was the same way with Greek organizations when I was at LSU. LSU admin is against everything that doesn't directly contribute to academics. They're all shitty people as far as I'm concerned and can gtfo.

I'd rather LSU have soup nazi tier compliance over the alternatives

I assume part of what you're referring to is what they always talk about on 104.5 (Sports Today, primarily) - and I've wondered as well. Just some sort of explanation would be nice. I'm not saying we should stoop to Bama levels, but it sounds like we're not playing by the same rules as any of our counterparts in the SEC. Would like to know who/where such policies come from at LSU and why we're different than others.

Nothing at all to do with that. Word I've heard is Bohansen was here before Saba. Saban had Bohansen fired and he was brought back when Saban I was told this by what I feel is a good source but I could have it wrong. On the bright side, he does keep us honest.

Yeah. frick those people for doing their jobs. Bo Bahnsen is an LSU lifer. I seriously doubt he deliberately does things to sabotage the Athletic Department.

We all know that person in the workplace who is rigid and inflexible in their areas they oversee. They take their job waaaaay too seriously and harp on insignificant details to make other people's jobs harder. LSU has one of those guys running the compliance dept.

How do we know that compliance is tougher at LSU than all other schools?
I've seen this stated as fact again and again, but no underlying facts.

No one is accusing him of deliberate sabotage, but there can be a middle ground between Ole Miss and not letting a visiting recruit's 90 year old grandma get a golf cart ride to the stadium in August cause it could be interpreted as a violation.

It is constantly referred to by people who are inside the program. It is not difficult to notice when you see the amount of incoming freshmen we see held up due to test scores and grade issues etc.

Or reporting Zack Hess' Wild Thing glasses to the NCAA.

Many reasons. He has been around longer than most of our coaches. We havent had a football coach with the clout to put his foot down. Joe Alleva is a cuckold. etc. Many reasons.

In addition to the ones listed, you can't fire someone for being too good at their job. We got patted on the back by the NCAA for the DJ McCarthy situation.
