Here we go:

1891-1900 LSU #NR out of 125, LSU's first game on 11/25/1893
1901-1910 LSU #102
1911-1920 LSU #125
1921-1930 LSU #95
1931-1940 LSU #16
1941-1950 LSU #8
1951-1960 LSU #9
1961-1970 LSU #6
1971-1980 LSU #14
1981-1990 LSU #24
1991-2000 LSU #42
2001-2010 LSU #3

I knew the 90's were bad, but I didn't realize out of the top 30 programs bad.

I'm thinking with the current state of the program, we should have another top ten finish this decade.

Thoughts? The season can't start soon enough...

I would've figured we were worse than that in the 90's.

Whose above us for 01-10?

Don't tell me Bama. I'll break my phone.

Not Boise, he said ranked, not wins so I'd have to say either Florida, Oklahoma, USC or Texas.

Yeah, I was born in 1982, I remember Tiger Stadium emptying out early for a lot of games growing up. Made the Dinardo era really special, then being a student during the best four years of Saban's tenure made me an insane fan for life. Now is just icing on the cake, happy times and not having to be nervous for the majority of the season.

Florida beat us for 2nd place 2001-2010 by about the width of an arse hair.

Apparently Florida's tougher schedule is why they're #2...?

I figured Florida. The other spot was a toss up between OU and USC.

Didn't USC, vacate rankings because of Bush?

Nope. Only BCS title and victories. No one really cares or pays attention to that. Can't erase what's been done on the field really.

It is a shame for the fans that forget the 90's era. Those were some of my first memories of LSU. I guess the most comparable team to that era for us would be being a Kentucky fan right now. Sprinkle a few decent years around majority losing seasons.

Think of how many bowl games there are. We only went to a bowl 3 times in the 90s and 2 of those were in Shreveport. That tells you how high our ceiling was. We went 2-9 one year. I'm shocked we were top 50.

wow, LSU maintained a top 15 program for 50 straight years and a top ten program for 30 straight years. If my mental math is correct, the average program ranking during the 50 year stretch was 10.6 and 7.7 during the 30 year stretch.

That's pretty damned solid.

without dinardo that 90's ranking would be 60 +

Didn't do it for 50 straight yrs, it was just an average.
