All 3 of the other top 4 teams in the CFP rankings have RBs in the top 20 for rushing yards. 2 of the 3 (JK Dobbins and Travis Etienne) are in the top 5. And obviously Ohio St has a mobile QB as well. If this defense couldnt slow down Najee Harris or John Rhys Plumlee they may have some bigger issues going forward...

One bad (half) game erases a full season of well above average rushing defense?

Yes if we couldn’t slow down a former 5* number 1 rb in the nation recruit and the quickest qb I’ve ever seen for a half

Our run defense has been very good this year minus 2 halves of 2 games. That’s it.

How many games have we lost because of the defense this year? Have they gotten burned? Of course. They've also shown the ability to lock it down when they have to.

The game against OM was bad, but otherwise, this team has been pretty solid against the run. I know Harris had a big second half vs. LSU, but that was a pick your poison scenario. Do you let Tua and Alabama's quick strike WR's have open space? Or, do you guard against the pass and give up some things vs. the run?

The bad run defense lately can largely be blamed on LB's. They have been crashing in on misdirection and getting themselves completely out of position. That's where we miss White's instinctive play (and to some extent, Divinity's as well)

Mike Greenberg just checked his co-host on Get Up. Over their opinions about LSU, Clemson, and Ohio State. That segment should find it's way to this website. Our fan base definitely needs to hear what he said.

I don’t get it. It is rushing defense issues soon? Doesn’t make sense.

Worst case scenario: defense stinks and we have to win scoring 40-50+... and we can absolutely do that with this offense and QB

Best case scenario: everyone is unnecessarily freaking out about Defense (as they did after Texas) and they play fine and up to potential in SECCG and playoff

Either way, we’re winning it all... the only question in my mind is do we win the title game 55-35 or 55-20

True but they were beyond horrendous in those two halves. Its a little unnerving to watch a team you follow who has always prided themselves on D play like that....if even for a short time.

Obviously we could improve but we're sitting at #33.

And we're 100yds from Clemson who's at #20 right now.

No need to panic.

Downvote all you want but LSU's D is a concern. It's just not one or two bad games.... This team has been torched by air and by ground by completely different teams.

I have faith healing up they can put a better effort in the playoffs. Mostly concerned about the upcoming games.

Seriously? frick, man.

We have given up three huge rushing performances of the top of my head, and have had 4 gams out of 10 be within a possession.

In those 4 games, with the exception of maybe Auburn, none of the opposing teams had the ball in the last 7 minutes of the 4th quarter with a chance to take the lead.

Get out of here with the alarmist crap.

Yes, it is a concern. No, it is not worth beating our heads over. Last week we played what amounted to a shotgun version of the Wing-T offense that Ga. Southern runs, but with better athletes (especially at QB).

Unless you work for a long time on an opponent who is doing shite like that, it is easy for even the biggest schools to get gashed. Players have said that they didn't do what they needed to do or make the plays necessary.

The big plays killed us. Big plays are easier to fix than if it were an overall scheme issue. They had 4 big plays, all for touchdowns. On the flip side of that stat, we were at around an 85% clip in getting off the field on 3rd down (which was this board's go-to anti-Aranda commentary leading up to the game).

It's always something. Either learn about football and the requirements necessary for week -to-week adjustments, or shut up and watch the game.

I would call the second half against both Bama and Old Miss Bad! So that makes two.
