LSU basketball defense at "least" gave a great effort tonight.

Georgia is a great passing team and leads the league in assists. This was no easy task for LSU to defend but tonight I liked their effort, especially late in the game. IF this team can learn to play defense and block out, they can get to the sweet 16.

The second half defensive intensity is all we need if we can just cut down on turnovers. Do that and this team can hang with just about anyone.

LSU defense suck tonight from an average team. Beating Georgia is no major accomplishment.

Our defense did not suck. Our defense seemed like it sucked because we had a ridiculous amount of turnovers that led to run outs.

First half sucked but second half much better. Play that way all game and it’s not close

UGA was clearly the quicker team. There was a point in the game where UGA had 24 fast break points and LSU 0.

Fairly lazy in the first half. We cranked up the intensity in the second half. We were active in the passing lanes, had quick hands, solid rotations and closed out on shooters much better. May have been one of the better defensive halves in Wade's career.

I was impressed late in the game.

It's obvious this is very talented group, Wade just needs to stay on their arse and light fires.

I disagree. I though the defense played its best in the first half. The first 10 minuets of the 2nd half they came out sluggish and that's when UGA built up a 10 point lead. It wasn't until Wade subbed for all the starters except Watford and they got some rest and the subs held their own and the starters picked up the intensity in the final 10 minutes.

Also I understand why Wade was running 2-3 and 3-2 zone defenses. UGA was quicker and man to man defense would have made LSU very vulnerable to screens and drives to the basket. They almost forced LSU to go into man to man with their outside shooting but it wasn't enough to force Wade to switch.

LSU is not the quickest team so when they play quick teams like UGA it's going to give them problems defensively.

Just because opponents miss open shots doesn’t mean you played “good” defense. It just means you got lucky.

Just like last year the defensive efficiency rating is in complete free fall. They were 105 AFTER the A&M blowout. 114 after the UF game. Now 123. They are second to last in the SEC in that category. Just like last season.

We can all say “it’s still early”. But the same bad principles that were there last year are here again.

This is LSU basketball. They have to win in high scoring games. No matter how many times Wade say he “emphasizes” defensive improvement the results on that side of the ball are the same. Year after year. It translates into a team that is good enough to beat ANYONE in the country because of their tremendous offensive ability. But also one that is susceptible to a loss every night out (ala 8-0 LSU losing to 0-8 Vandy last season while allowing 99 points) regardless of opponent. It also means that no lead is safe against LSU or for LSU. Buckle up, because there are going to be a ton of close games this year. Just like in 2019 and 2020.

One positive tonight was Days showing he can defend without fouling. He altered a lot of shots going straight up, needs to continue to do so.

IMO LSU basketball has the same basic problem on defense and rebounding. Defend your man and not the ball. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen three or four guys collapse on the guy with the ball or collapse under the basket to get a rebound and completely fail. When they collapse on the offensive guy he simply kicks the ball out for an easy outside shot or a penetrating cutter from the opposite direction. When they collapse to get a rebound the ball bounces away from them too many times because each guy is not getting a body on someone when a shot is made.
