Having 6 SEC teams ranked ahead of them by USA Today is going to fire these boys up. Hard to imagine anybody comes in resting on their laurels like some preseason #1 years. We should be as hungry as ever.

Our starting pitching has failed these past 2 seasons due largely to injury. IF we can keep those guys healthy, we will end up well in the SEC, top 4.

which will no doubt result in someone’s severe arm injury.

I hate that this is so funny. PM has lost his edge, its time for a change, maybe not at HC but we need a spark. A Joe Brady for baseball.

Hopefully the dreaded arm soreness virus does not pass this year.

We need a real hitting coach and a pitching coach that doesn't wreck pitchers' arms. And someone needs to light a fire under our head coach's arse.

Arm soreness has only been an issue with freshmen in the last few years. We only have one freshman pitcher on the roster. Arms can't get sore if they don't exist.

This isn't good enough for LSU and I hope Woodward doesn't except this in the future. PM needs to have us back at the top of this league talent-wise and he's failed to do that in recent years. Vandy/Fla./The Miss schools and Arky have all become perennial threats to our once-held SEC dominance. If PM get this program back to it's former glory, I hope we won't accept mediocrity and do what we can to rectify it. I've seen/heard people brush aside all the mid-week losses as "meaningless". LSU should be able to beat every team in this state with back-up players and mid-week starters 90% of the time. That used to be the expectation. I think we need to raise our standards before it becomes who we are as a baseball school.

Spelling error aside, are you suggesting employment decisions be based on pre-season media polls?

Pitching staff will be loaded too as long as we stay healthy. I honestly like our chances this year. Flying under the radar with a ton of potential and talent

Get over it, basketball will have another season better than baseball.

You don't think Eddie Smith is a "real" hitting coach? He's got a pretty good track record improving team batting averages and developing hitters wherever he's been the hitting coach.

quote:

Eddie Smith, who last season directed a record-breaking Tulane baseball offense, was hired as LSU’s volunteer coach/hitting coach on July 9, 2019.

Smith worked as Tulane’s hitting coach and recruiting coordinator for the past two seasons, and under his tutelage, the Green Wave set American Athletic Conference records this season for home runs (89), batting average (.302), runs per game (7.69), runs scored (446), total bases (1,055), slugging percentage (.518), extra-base hits (241) and walks per game (4.88).

In his 13 seasons as a college baseball coach, Smith has tutored 48 players that were chosen in the Major League Baseball Draft, including 23 selected in the top 10 rounds, and 13 players he has coached have played in the Major Leagues.

Smith’s pupils at Tulane included 2019 MLB first-round draft choice and first-team all-American Kody Hoese, and 2019 first-team Freshman all-American Hudson Haskin.

Of course not. I'm saying that the talent level of LSU is now matched/exceeded by far too many other programs in the SEC in recent years.

Smart phones exist, the internet is faster, most importantly I'm of legal drinking age. Of course I'm okay with it not being 1997 anymore. Sorry your collection of zubaz pants went out of style.

You know what doesn't go outta style? Being the dominant program in SEC baseball history! I know I'm just being an irrational nega-Tiger but I haven't reached the apathetic level mentally to make a statement like "It's not '97 anymore".
