Hitting
.875 OPS
2HR
Drew 7 walks
Struck out 8 times (want to get that down a bit)
Left 9 on base and still scored 8

Pitching
.097 batting average against (3 hits)
12 K only 2 walks
0 .00 ERA
All pitchers had WHIP’s .75 and under.

Defense
2 errors

All in all a good start. Loved seeing Cabrera go opposite field twice.

If he’s hitting well under .200 later in this season I just can’t see a way he stays in the lineup.

We scored 8 runs and hit 2 homers on a frigid opening night, and all y’all can focus on is Hughes. You people need help.

He had an OB% of .250, he scored a run, hit a hard line drive to left center that was caught and he didn't strike out.

Gavin Dugas had a much worse game. He went 0 for 4, had an OB% of .000 and he struck out in half of his at-bats, 2 of our 8 K's in the game and he never got the ball out of the infield.

Only on the Rant do grown men feel it's a badge of honor to shite on LSU athletes who are busting their arse to win.

It sure was. It was probably in the top 5 for exit speed all night.

They were ready to pile on Hughes from day 1. After his error, the game thread was calling for his head.

Meh. He hits 9th, not a lot is expected of him. He needs to focus on 1) getting on base—which he did once, 2) not striking out—make the defense make a play, and 3) laying down a bunt when called upon(I’m not a huge fan of bunting—outs are too important—, but there will be times when it’s appropriate, especially for Hughes) to turn the lineup over and get to Cabrera.

Not that concerned about his B.A. except that in that hits obviously get him get on base. If he goes 0-3 every game, but has a walk, a sac bunt, and no strikeouts, I’ll take it. Assuming he plays a great SS.

If the bats are as good as they looked last night we can afford to keep Hughes in the lineup as long as he plays great SS. But if they start cooling off and Hughes is still sub .200 CPM will probably look at moving things around

Agreed, but one game isn't enough to make any real decisions from. It's a long season.

What were yalls thoughts on Kaminer? For some reason I was under the impression that he was supposed to be a flame throwing lefty so I was caught by surprise. He certainly got a lot of work on fielding his position. He needs some work there but there wasnt much he could do on that bunt
