We really couldve done some serious damage in the postseason the way we were playing.

I am still royally pissed about how bad we got frickED last year by the NCAA selection committee.

A case could have been made for including LSU but when you finish what, ninth or tenth in your conference its usually a weak case.

The fact of the matter is that the NCAA was extremely hypocritical in their selection process last year. Praised northern teams for playing more road games when they have to, praised some teams for high RPI but looked the other way when ours was WAY up there. They were stuck on our conference record, which I understand was shitty. But damn we were playing some good ball.

We swept CSF. Sorry it was at home. But we won.

I agree with you and thought, despite our finish in the SEC, we should have gotten a bid. You and I may only differ on who is to blame for having an LSU baseball team sit at home. There is no way LSU should ever be a bubble team in baseball. I'm looking at PM and I'm loooking at him to step it up this year.

That's the trend. We're starting two weeks later than we did in previous years to even things up for northern baseball teams particularly the Big 10 whose commissioner has been outspoken when it comes to ending southern and western dominance in baseball.

We might have been unfairly overlooked but we gave then that opportunity. This is an LSU baseball problem not an NCAA problem.

I've got a great idea for non-conference scheduling: BRING BACK THE WINN DIXIE CLASSIC in the Dome!

We should not have to go on the road and play a great team to get in the NCAA Tourney when we play in the SEC.

With few notable exceptions the early part of season seems to be set aside to play northern teams. There are no northern powerhouses and usually when they arrive in Baton Rouge its the first time they've played outdoors all year. Not a good way to prepare for a grueling SEC schedule.

The gaping hole in that argument is that the other SEC schools host snowbirds in late Feb-early March, too.

it all boils down to us not getting our arse kicked by the SEC again. the early games dont mean shite and shouldnt. we should win them, regardless of who they are, and finish out the season. I agree that we should have gotten a bid last year, but i dont have any problem with them leaving us out. we got swept by three fricking SEC teams last year. i dont give a shite what we did to cal st fullerton

I think last year was a blessing in disguise. Mainieri learned that it was time to change his strategy. You MUST have GREAT pitching from top to bottom...and your ERA has to be around 3.00...PERIOD.

Gone are the days when the offense is gonna have a significant effect.

This year's pitching staff is gonna be absolutely nasty...and it doesnt matter who we play in preseason.

That's just it. It's more or less a level playing field once SEC play starts, because EVERYBODY'S been playing shitty competition.

It's like trying to excuse your football team's loss by saying "well, they played in a downpour". Guess what? The other team played under the same conditions.

It shouldn't matter who you play if you just win. We weren't good last year period. Win the games on your schedule no matter who they are and you have nothing to worry about. Then you won't have to beg or make a case other than pointing to your overall record. That's starts with learning how to score runs and developing pitching. A hitting coach would help.

It really won't matter who we play preseason, if we win more conference games than not, we'll be playing postseason baseball
