Obliterated this year, but still a weird interesting useless stat. Dale Brown had a stat like that at one time in the 80s.

LSU Football has lost to the eventual Nat'l Champion seven times in the last ten years. And football plays a lot less regular season and playoff games. Still meaningless but as meaningful as three in a row for baseball.

2017 Alabama
2015 Alabama
2012 Alabama
2011 Alabama
2010 Auburn
2009 Alabama
2008 Florida

Eliminated by, not just lost to. I think that's the point.

Happened in NCAA basketball from 1979-1981. 4 years if you want to include a regular season loss to Kentucky.

so, what you're saying , is that the eventual champion beats a lot of teams enroute to becoming the champion? eerie!

Moral of the story is that if we make it to the tourney next year and get eliminated, bet on the team that beats us to win it all.

Kind of dumb to include Florida. It's not like they knocked us out early and we didn't get a chance to play in Omaha or National Championship because we played the best early in the tournament.

My hotel reservation in Omaha next June has been made.

Okay, Council Bluffs, IA because I'm a cheapass.

OP’s point is that LSU’s season was ended by the eventual national champ 3 years in a row. Not simply that LSU lost to them at some point in the season.
