LSU baseball after skip

I see a lot of posts about LSU baseball and rightfully so. I will be honest and finally admit LSU baseball isn’t what we all think it should be. Before skip arrived I gathered we were not much. He came here and changed not only LSU but college baseball in whole. Had a streak only seen by the likes of USC and maybe a few others. Since he left we have had moderate success but nothing like the 90’s.
I have said since 2014 season end that’s paul should have replaced. Just my opinion. But was told I was crazy and a bunch of other stuff I cannot repeat. I used to be a hardcore fan but have just focused on other things. I still do get pumped when LSU does well but don’t let the lows get me down. I would like to see a change but will see if that happens for the better or worse.
But we all need to realize we aren’t what we used to be in the 90’s. Maybe we should strive to do so but don’t expect it.
Let the flames commence.

I don't think anyone is expecting 5 Natties in 10 seasons
I do, however, expect more than 3 Omaha appearances in 10 seasons.

PM has reached his ceiling and I think that’s been the case for a few years now. Y’all are still loaded with talent but it seems like the last couple of years have just been kind of stale by LSU’s standards.

Paul was a great coach, and certainly elevated us past the smoke days, but the game has clearly passed him by. I really hope he retires with some grace after this season.

There is a big disconnect between LSU fans and the current landscape of college baseball and it’s partially due to the success LSU had in the 90’s. LSU folks need to understand that type of dominance will likely never happen again in college baseball. There are more highly developed kids coming out of high school than ever before and with scholarship limitations it creates a ton of parity across college baseball. The talent gap between major programs and smaller programs is minuscule in many cases and there is a lot more elite talent spread throughout the major programs. So for PM, he was never going to have Bertman success. Now, it is entirely possible to understand all that and still believe that PM has underachieved at LSU, especially more recently. That’s the category I fall into. His tenure has run stale and it’s time for new leadership within the baseball program. But don’t make the mistake of measuring LSU’s baseball success to what they did in the 90’s. Instead, measure it against other top programs in the modern landscape. We aren’t as far away as many people think.
By the way, don’t give up on this team. They are young and this weekend will likely be the toughest pitching they’ll face all year. Give the young guys time to adjust at the plate and be encouraged by our pitching staff. The sky isn’t falling yet.

I don’t think most people are expecting 90’s dominance. However, LSU has regressed from regularly competing for SECW and overall league championships to this display of baseball. Preseason projections of 4th in the SECW are not going to be allowed for long at LSU. I’ve heard all of the arguments from both sides. The bottom line is everything rolls up to PM. It’s his program and he gets both the adoration and the blame. I’m not calling for his head yet but to deny the current situation of LSUBB is foolish.

I think most people do expect 90’s success. That’s the problem I have. The rest of your post I agree with. I think a change was needed 6 or 7 years ago. There is a tier above where LSU is right now and there’s no excuse for LSU not to be there. But we aren’t far away. We have a very solid foundation talent wise. Program just needs some new energy. But it’s still too early to give up on this season. We’re facing the best arms we’ll see all year this weekend. Only place to go is up.
