Let's take a look at all the other SEC facades compared to LSU. None of them are as tacky or as cheap looking from the advertisements to the batter's eye. None.
How the hell did all those schools build nicer facilities than LSU without the advertising?!?!?

LSU turned a profit in baseball west before any of those other guys did. I am betting the advertisements put us over the top.
I’d heard that 15 or so years ago each sign was 10K per season. I have no idea what they are now. It ads(sic) up.
Having become use to the OF signs I’m used to it. It’s certainly not embarrassing. Mlb parks on down have it. That’s the least of the issues.

I was not a college athlete but played high school baseball and basketball and loved college sports. i graduated from LSU with two degrees, and resided in the cheapest LSU dorm which was the Stadium dorms. My comment is that new sport facilities will depend upon alumni donations and not on state funding. The Louisiana economy, especially South Louisiana, is declining and has probably reduced business contributions. In addition, the social justice, cancel culture, and critical race theory LSU advocates has probably negatively impacted
alumni contributions.
P.S. I was all-state for two years at a small central Louisiana school, and I would have accepted a LSU baseball scholarship even if the field was in a cow pasture.
But I still love my LSU sports.

It’s certainly not embarrassing.

But back to the ads, Arkansas turns a profit, Ole Miss, State, USC... lots of these teams make money without the ugliness.

They may now, but we have done it for a long time.
Every dollar gained from an ad counts the same as a dollar gained from ticket sales. It all counts the same. And why leave it on the table. Use the profits to buy the best tracking equipment. The best video equipment. The best technology.
Whining about ads, the Sun and bleacher seats means we have a ton of good stuff at Alex Box because people still buy these tickets and support our program.
I’d be more worried about winning games, that’s why people come.

Whining about ads, the Sun and bleacher seats
It's all sub par, doubleb. The batter's eye. The way the ads are done. The lack of chairbacks. You can have ads, but they can be consistent and be uniform. Many others go with all white with no colors. It looks so much better. And we have multiple examples of schools doing it better. I'm not asking to reinvent the wheel. I'm asking for the highest standard from the highest standard team for the fans that have shown they're willing to support more than anyone else. It's not too much to ask imo. Excellence should be expected, no demanded.
quote:You are behind the times. As ESPN becomes more and more involved, it is becoming more and more like football where fans only show up for big games and lately for baseball that is only the super regionals. State was the last time the box was truly full and spilling out. Even Florida state wasn't as packed as it could have been. This is a result of how easy it is to watch at home now. So schools are looking for ways to get people to watching in the stadium because winning isn't enough anymore. You have to offer something unique, special. And if you can't even do the bare minimum for the SEC, then you can't expect people to show up. Chairbacks is one of those things.
I’d be more worried about winning games, that’s why people come.

You are right about TV.
Schools can’t have it both ways all the time. You can’t expect to pack the stadia and keep getting big escalating tv contracts.

You are spot on about this.
The dumbasses disagreeing with you are either really biased or just plain ignorant about how far down the box ranks among SEC stadiums in amenities and atmosphere

Tried way too hard for it to resemble the old box instead of just building an up-to-date stadium
The outside of the park looks nothing like the Old Box. The scoreboard looks nothing like the Old Box. The bleacher seats do, but the only way to make it not look like the Old Box is to make them all chairbacks or add or berm or deck in the OF.
I don’t see how you put these stadiums side by side and suggest that they look alike.

quote:That's just sad. It seems like they went plain vanilla when they built that. If they went big it probably would have added some shine to the PMAC as well. Perhaps an added concourse area? All of the inside areas look cramped in pictures.
Basketball ops doesn’t have coaches offices nor training areas for the players.

quote:I know for a fact that LSU replaced the Wal-Mart tarp Batters Eye for a better quality tarp from Bass Pro Shops.
We started big and haven’t added much or improved much.
Seriously, is there no company in the State of Louisiana that can construct a Batters Eye wall of solid material?
How hard is that to do? Doesn't seem like a "Rocket Science" project to me. Any high school Industrial Arts department could probably do it.
The tarp BE is only there because the HC and nobody in the LSUAD give a shite!

Those are chairback and the concourse up there is wider than the one at LSU.

After all the pics we might be 10th or worse in the sec as far as stadiums go. That is incredibly bad for a top notch baseball program
Posted on 3/24/21 at 7:39 pm to Big4SALTbro
We’re def in the bottom half as far as stadiums and I don’t think they’ll be doing renovations soon. Will Wade will lose his shite if baseball gets allocated before the PMAC.
Posted on 3/24/21 at 7:40 pm to The Hurricane
Honestly very sad that both the pmac and box are bottom half of the sec. it’s embarrassing for a big six school
Posted on 3/24/21 at 7:42 pm to Big4SALTbro
Even with the new box, we were still tops for the player experience. We were one of the few places to have the players lounge, lockers equal to that of footballs teams, training rooms in the stadium, and more. But if you look at every renovation done around the league, everyone else has all that now too. So it’s no longer a unique experience to sell to recruits.
Posted on 3/24/21 at 7:46 pm to The Hurricane
I’ve been saying for years that we’ve been out of the top 5 in fan experience at the box and that was before Florida, Kentucky, and State each spent $60 million + to rebuild. It’s like people have never been to Baum or Founders or the Dude or Swayze... people think the box is special in some way. It’s not. The only unique thing now is the tacky ads.
Posted on 3/24/21 at 7:52 pm to ell_13
It’s bad that Bama who could careless about baseball has a better stadium than us.
The thread is really eye opening to how bad things are with our facilities.
