USC's is a nice park and its not really close.

I always liked USCe’s stadium. The chairbacks, wrap around concourse and that it was sunken all were nice touches. I always hoped LSU would’ve done suites all the way down the baselines like Arkansas.

Spending that money on enclosing the south end zone instead of upgrading pmac or Alex box was dumb. Even dumber was spending that money on the south end zone for stadium club seat but going cheap and not covering seats like west side.

Feel better? They made improvements, but it pales in comparison to Texas A&M and Arkansas.

What is your reason that they have so few home meets or were you just trying to be funny?

I’d heard that we don’t have a banked track. True? False?

LSU has sawdust as fill on the practice football field. I'm not kidding...

100% true. One of the biggest reasons they go elsewhere. They half-assed an upgrade a couple of years ago and didn't bank the track. They don't have a separate area for sprints either.

Following state rules means LSU has to go cheap

The coast and env building on campus was built very shoddy

I thought TAF and private donations funded like 90% of athletics construction?

Gymnastics, Football Ops upgrade, Tennis, Baseball, West, East, South Football, golf, and basketball practice were all TAF projects. Those were the biggies. Oh and softball.

They can’t bank the track because the stste required it as a disaster relief center in emergencies like Katrina.

True. A&M's is hydraulic. Up when they need it, down when they don't.

The Box is fixable IMO.

1. Replace the bench backs with chair backs down the lines.

2. Replace the black tarp with a proper batters eye

3, scrap the RF bleachers and build something cool for the students. Party deck type deal with separate access from the rest of the park so they can bring in ice chests and be rowdy.

None of that would be that damn expensive and would significantly improve the aesthetics and atmosphere.

I mean, it really is that simple. They’d probably manage to screw that up too.

U probably don’t or have never worked construction. The house construction here is shite. Come take a look in my attic, or at the slab they didn’t square up. The brick over hangs the slab edge a 1/2 inch. My neighbor same shite. Piss poor builder.

The Box was poor timing. I’m also not sure what everyone wanted. LSU was a victim of taking a huge step, then watching others emulate and improve.

Baum and Founders are like so many minor league stadiums I have been to. Sunken in look, angled chairbacks, etc.

While LSU was ambitious, they could have visited most any Triple A facility or Texas League ballpark to have a great idea of how to do it. And saving the Old Box was simply not an option.

Regarding TS. North end zone is fantastic. I don’t mind the asymmetrical nature of it. You can’t do much else with the east side unless you demolish some buildings.

Most - if not all of LSU’s facilities suck. In addition to overall campus

First off, if you think the concrete jungle of A&M is nicer than LSU, I don’t know what to tell you.

Next, I constantly find myself amazed when I visit campus for football each year. I graduated in ‘09, which I guess is a long time ago now...but anyway. The Union isn’t anything close to what it was when I was there.

We now have a giant bookstore...forgot what used to be there.

I’ve heard of, but not yet seen, all the work going on by where McVoy, Herget, and Miller are.

The Rec has grown immensely.

New Tiger Band facility.

I was there when Highland Dining Hall was knocked down and the Commons was built, and they revamped Pentagon Dining Hall.

There’s living areas down the hill by the old Huey Long Fieldhouse.

Old Softball Field was knocked down when I was there.

They demo’d the old tennis facility. Now we have gymnastics training and beach volleyball facilities.

Renovated Carl Maddox

I used to park in Hart Lot. That’s covered with dorms now.

The Nicholson Gateway took off. Gone is the Box and the shitty married housing. Now there’s a nutrition center, parking garage, shopping center, more living facilities.

I’m a bit saddened to see the random shite I knew so well gone, but it’s obviously for the better.

I think what a lot of people don't think about when they complain about the New Box is that at the time the new stadium was conceived, LSU Baseball was not, and still isn't, hurting for attendance. LSU didn't have to put a party deck or berm in the outfield to attract fans. They built it to maximize stadium capacity. LSU baseball is always sold out, so no need for the gimmicks to get a few extra eye balls in the stadium. Now, could they have added a few extras, yes, but they wanted to keep the feel of the old box and the traditions, which I appreciate.

Also, as others have said, LSU was the first to take the jump and put money into a new Baseball Stadium. The rest of the nation jumped after LSU putting LSU at a perceived disadvantage to some.
