Tiger Stadium is still the Mecca as far as I am concerned.

The inside being all symmetrical is fantastic, the outside on the other hand is dog shite minus the north end. The West side is an embarrassment, not only is it a terrible design but how did we end up with that brown color scheme? The East side is hidden but it’s bare bones nothing covering the inside of the stadium. If somehow all the way around the stadium matched the North end then Tiger stadium would be the best looking stadium in all of sports.

Can’t forget that huge blank wall on the new SE end

that is fine, that doesn't excuse the piss poor job we have done in making any updates to the broken pieces of it.

its 12 years in and we have old bleachers, these could have been replaced with chair backs in a offseason in year 10 at least. we have a tarp for a batters eye that could be fixed easy.

so we were the first to jump and everyone created better nicer looking things than us and we have had a decade plus to fix it and we haven't.

Wish the NEZ would be redone so that all the rows would line up straight from field to top of stadium.
Still don’t understand why there is a static ad board in the SEZ that differs from all other ribbon boards above it. The outside of the stadium looks like Frankenstein and nothing matches. There is way too much dead space that is underutilized.

People will downvote this, but Alabama has the best stadium from an aesthetics standpoint. It’s all symmetrical inside and out. Everything matches and works well with backdrops on campus.

You seem to believe all of the bleachers in the new Alex Box Stadium were brought over from the old Box.

The only bleachers from the old Box are the left field bleachers behind the out field fence.

I think they took time to get it to match or maybe they did a full renovation instead of our piece meal where we built each piece separate. I haven’t been to bama in a decade but if memory serves me correctly they have a little more space to work with than we do when constructing which probably has some impact. It also helps when your AD isn’t a clown car for decades at a time

Maybe it was a bit of a stretch saying old bleachers for it but it’s clear we designed the new box to mirror the old box pretty closely just with upgrades.

It’s good we got the players the best stuff it’s just frustrating to not make it a fan friendly experience in 12 years and for it to be barreling toward the bottom half of the league

You either have to stay in the old building and make updates to keep the mystique and cool history.
The preference of many LSU Alums and Fans.

Why not duplicate and extend the Grandstand all the way down the lines, while modernizing and renovating the entire facility?

I think the issue with that was the locker room updates. I don’t think they would have had room to do the things they did with the old box. The train tracks hem you in down the left field line and behind the plate and the road on the right and outfield.

Perhaps they could have built cages and a players locker room lounge in left field if you tore down the old apartments.

I’m not sure how much construction could have been done to the old.

The issue was they rebuilt the new to be a nicer version of the old one but then failed to update and now it’s probably 6 or 7 in the league

They for the most part stayed within the same structure, I think the problem with LSU lies in that a lot of the structure was built on the dorms and it would be a huge undertaking to fix. Bama also doesnt have to worry about powers that be not being on the same page, have hit home runs on ADs and a constant cash flow that spends money to stay atop the mountain.

I get the sentiment about the rest of the stadium matching the north, being that that’s the best looking part, but unfortunately that would be hard to accomplish. It’s like some of y’all don’t understand that the upper decks jut OUT from the lower bowl. Incorporating some kind of arch design would look weird since the decks are so tall. Which is why, IMO, the south upper looks like a complete clusterfrick. I’m convinced Joe Alleva read this board and saw “arches! We need more arches!” and told the architects to include that into the design. Now nothing matches. I honestly don’t mind the west side. I just think they should have chosen better materials. Maybe marble or something over that ugly lego looking shite. Different style of louvers. And they need to hide all that fireproofing and steel beams underneath.

It’s sad because we could have all that but our system is corrupt and our govs ruin everything and our AD hires have been subpar.

It is frustrating because LSU athletics has plenty of money and the ability to stay on top of the mountain but we don’t.

I wouldn’t mind if we made the outside of the stadium all look like the east side dorms if we could clean them up. I think the Roman look at it had before on the outside was nice. We could spruce up around it.

The NEZ is by far the best and I understand that it’s difficult to replicate because it would require rebuilding both the East and west sides. The East side is actually not a bad shot when they have it in the background of aerial shots.

You’re not entirely wrong about that. Skip caught a lot of grief from his money supporters when he finally made the decision to abandon the old Box and build a new one.

A lot, and I do mean A LOT, of season ticket holders in the old Box along with big donors wanted Skip to just expand and upgrade the old stadium but there just wasn’t enough room to do it squeezed between the railroad tracks and Nicholson Dr. They had fond memories and nostalgia for the old stadium and felt betrayed when Skip announced it would be abandoned and eventually torn down.

He tried to pacify them by promising some aspects of the old Box would be incorporated into the new stadium, such as some bleachers would be moved to the new stadium. Skip also promised them a bronze plaque would be placed on the ground approximately where home plate was in the old Box. I know Skip kept that promise because I saw it once when I parked in the parking lot that occupied that area (before the new nutrition building was built there) for one football game.

His schtick with opening the big hollow baseball during the new Box’s opening ceremony was part of his way of winning over the doubters. I know it sounds stupid now but for many of Skip’s original supporters who were on-board with him even before the CWS championships started rolling in, it was traumatic abandoning the original Alex Box Stadium.

Tiger Stadium atmosphere is second to none, but the building itself could use a hell of a lot of upgrades.
Which building are you talking about?

Tiger Stadium North.
TS South?
TS East?
TS West?

They all look different.

I like the aesthetics of the North End, not so much the South (The "Great White Wall of Nothing" is an eyesore) and West. The East Side is an embarrassing eyesore.

Still waiting for Woodward to do something, anything at all of substance.

The interior of the stadium is fine, outside of the recent lethargy of tacky permanent ads that have gone up.

If I'm the AD, there will be ads only on the scoreboard playback screen and the digital advertising board. They will scroll during pre-game, half-time, time outs and quarter breaks. There will not be any tacky permanent advertising anywhere in the stadium........

Opened the same year as South Carolina's park. USC's is a nice park and its not really close.
