It was a high fastball, not an easy pitch to get down. In fact, in a normal sacrifice situation (not a suicide squeeze) he would be expected to not even attempt to bunt that pitch.

It's why you can't show suicide too early. The pitcher is coached to throw a bad pitch.

I need to see it again, but it's probably not Brown's fault.

If this game recalibrates Schmidt, it'll be worth the price of admission.

Honestly, I think it is Schmidt dialing in but I have also noticed Yeskie seems to be figuring out pitchers out a little better.

I dont think Eyanson or Schmidt are super effective throwing up in the zone. Mikey said something on the podcast the other day that guys with run to their fastball get flat up in the zone and it only works if you have ride.

Who in the world bunts with the bat above his head??? I mean…if you’re going to call the bunt…make sure your batter knows better than that.

If it was a suicide squeeze, he is basically told he has to get the bat on the ball. The only issue is a high pitch, then the batter has to decide if he thinks he can get the bat on the ball and not pop it up or does he just let the runner make the out. You're basically hoping for a foul tip that goes over the catcher's head and is not caught.

I still can’t get over that squeeze.

You are so dependent on a good pitch to bunt.
You have guy up there who doesn’t bunt.
Who has a hard hit single already.
Who is very difficult to double up the traditional way.
A defense that can’t field a ground ball anyway.

It just makes no sense. Jay was hellbent on manufacturing a run going back to the Braswell at bat.
