Only 1 Spring game but here is some things that I saw.

1: Kirklin is much improved
Just 1 spring game, but he was everywhere. Had what 2 TDs? Maybe he’s the guy that emerges behind Boutte.

2: We need Gilbert
We need consistent playmaker type guys and Gilbert is one of them. Don’t get me wrong we have some guys, but very inexperienced and unproven. Would be a huge boost on offense.

3: D line is scary good.
They were in the backfield every play. And it just wasn’t one guy. This was also without Anthony or Gaye playing. D line is legit imo.

4: QB race is down to Max or Brennan.
As of now I would give the nod to Max. But still plenty of time. This is a good problem to have, and I think either QB will give us a chance to win.

5: RBs have to be better.
Part of this is on the O line, but still. We need to be better at running the ball. Emery and TDP are explosive enough.

6: Secondary is legit:
I’m gonna say it right now. We have the best secondary in the nation. We have experience and talent everywhere. Stingley and Mcgoltheren (pardon my spelling) were great. Plus Sage Ryan and Ricks did not even play.

7: LBs have improved:
We seem to have a lot depth there. Young guys and experienced guys. Sampah made a great play yesterday. Mike Jones, Baskerville and Strong didn’t play I believe. And we still looked good. Lots of depth.

I definitely missed some things. So feel free to add to the list if you want. But overall I am pleased with the practice yesterday.

TDP did well imo. He hit the hole hard, and ran with aggression.

And this may be the best secondary since who knows once Ricks is back

We only had one healthy scholarship RB playing yesterday. Should be fine.

I didnt watch the whole game but one thing that noticeable to me is it looked like all the players enjoyed being around each other and were having a good time out there. Definitely encouraging to see that after last year's disappointing season

Yep. Definitely noticed a different tone within the team. I can’t explain why this wasn’t there last season. Maybe Championship hangover?
Who knows.

Anything less than 10 wins is a disappointment this year.

The fact that what we ran on offense was considered vanilla is very encouraging.

Don't forget about Langlois.

Really excited to see what Goodwin will bring to the rb room when he arrives. Agree on Gilbert. Max and Brennan are close but at this point I think Johnson is gonna have to lose the job, not Brennan winning it. He finished with a couple nice wins and with a new OC they are all new to him. Unless O butts in and says go with qb X. What I saw in TS yesterday is that we have the athletes to be very very good, with a few areas benefiting from the new guys coming in stepping up big time when they get here. What we couldn’t see is how good the new coaches are at what they do...game planning and coolness under pressure in game!! Really excited about the fall!!

Since the run game was all but absent from the spring game I can’t wait to see how Peetz utilizes them like he did with mccaffrey

Its a good feeling to have two QBs that you feel can go out and win a game.

Ed ingram said as much.

I think it's different when kids aren't opting out and all that. It's getting bacn to normal and none of these kids are promised anything

Secondary includes CBs and the Safeties

And while you could say our CBs are elite, I've seen nothing from Ward, Harris, or Toles that suggests they're "the best in the nation"

Kirklin is a 5th year player who’ll turn 23 at the start of the season. I hope he’s a thing; just not sold. He’s older than everyone & was going against a defense without 6 starters

You say the D line was in the backfield a lot.
So what is your take on the O line? Are they in trouble?
