Let's be real. Jay Johnson has never had a team where pitching was a true strength.
Even his NC team was pretty weak after Skenes. We were all awestruck by the CWS performances Hurd and Cooper put out there because it was out of the norm for them.

Cooper was consistently good his whole tenure at LSU. If you thought his Omaha work was an aberration, you weren’t paying attention.

The good thing is that it does seem like his teams are usually pitching their best late in the season
