There is only 1 spot where the sun doesn’t burn you on a day like today.

Still laughing at Florida only scoring 4 and giving up 18. Without facing Skeens.

What I am giddy about is the fact that Hurd is back next year or I guess I should say this year!

Who’d be sitting on it in August though?

A Natty is a Natty. It needs to be treasured and savored as long as you can.
My first was 1958. As an 11 year old, I assumed that another would be along soon. I learned patience the hard way.

Just curious, but how did the level of enjoyment from 1958 as am 11 YO compare to this natty?

Since 1958 was my first for attending games, I was awestruck. It was hero worship of Cannon, Robinson, Rabb, Fugler, and the Chinese Bandits. But the realty of the difficulty was lost on me, especially with the 1961 team with Stovall and Moonie Winston finishing 10-1. Stovall was robbed of the Heisman, I believe because Cannon had just won it. But, it just felt like it was only a matter of time before we would win again. Then the wait began. The joy of that Natty was still there for me to savor, but the impatience was starting to grow each year after year. As I grew older, the reality sunk in how difficult it was to win a NC. But, I still had that joy of being a champion. I savored it.
Now, I’m kinda spoiled again. We have great coaches in multiple sports and great athletes winning in relative rapid succession. The joy is still there, but it doesn’t linger like it did as a youth. It doesn’t seem like it will take that long before we win again, but I remember the down years, so it helps me savor each one a little longer. I guess that’s why I want to hold on to the feelings that this thread produces when I see it each day.

We're the same age and share that experience. I went to school with Duane Leopard's younger brother.

I remember impatiently waiting for my dad to finish reading the Sunday Morning Advocate so I could cut out pictures and articles of my favorite players for my scrapbook I had started that season. I wish I still had that book.

I agree. Looking at that book would allow you to reconstitute those feelings that you had back then. That is the same feelings that revisiting this thread can bring. Why be so much in a hurry to move on to something else?
I guess the Rant has to be for Rants.
Duane Leopard DT Chinese Bandit.

It may be football season, but I still miss baseball.

Was this the best LSU baseball team of all time?

No. Lost too many regular season games. Didn’t win the SEC. Not even the SEC tournament.
Pitching staff just wasn’t good enough in the long haul to be considered the best lsu team of all time.
