You guys are sleeping on Fournette. Coach O even said last year at the end of the season that he may have been our best back but was hurt and that we would see more of him this year if he stays healthy.

I personally believe he’s going to show up in a big way especially at the start of the season while the new guys get acclimated to the SEC and college game. He’s got great vision, cutting ability and power.

Quickness into the whole is something we lacked last year and this guys has that also. The young guys do as well but how ready will they be? We’ll have to see but I wouldn’t sleep on Fournette.

I was actually pretty impressed with what Lanard did in his limited action. Really wish he would have gotten more carries.

Lanard seems like he will fit perfectly into what Brady and Ensminger want to do on offense this year.

Yep, D White is a once in a lifetime talent , but we have really great guys to fill that hole, so very small drop-off...

Why do people always use so much hyberbole? He wasn't a once-in-a-lifetime talent. Once every 5-10 years maybe, but not once in our entire lifetime. That would be like 80 years, give or take a few.

Lanard is simply a role guy, but this is how successful backfields are built in 2019. I think with the situation this year & addition of Brady that will be pretty evident

Not better at kicker

There is no way to know this. And yet, you state it as fact.

Greg McMahon is the one who went out and got Cole Tracy. He is now bringing in Cade - another guy with four letters in his first name that starts with a "C". That should count for something.

Greg and Ed have also stated that Cade is the starter.

Cade has a stronger leg than Cole and in the Under Armour All-American Game, kicked a game-record 59-yarder. He made nine of 11 kicks his senior season at Prosper High School in Prosper, Texas.

He kicked FG's, kicked off and punted. He was the #2 rated kicker in the nation by Kohl’s Professional Camps. His Hudl highlights say he was the #1 kicker and #3 punter in the nation. He can take over for Atkins if he gets injured - Cade was kicking off from the 40 and kicking it OUT of the endzone in higlights that are in the article that is linked below.

Better Know a Freshman: Cade York

Here is a video of his record setting kick in the UA game. The video of his record setter is under this picture. It is 3rd item down the page - 1st is a UA recap, this picture and then the Cade video.

Cade looked legit.

59 vs Air ain’t easy and he pulled it off at the UAAA Game

The only question is mental, but knowing you have the distance is half the battle there.

We knew Tract was money.

honestly cannot help but see improvement over last year. Take each player and rate them positionally and the LSU Tigers will be better all around.

This is where I am at. I think we are possibly better at every position except trying to replace DW. Odds are against bettering Tracy but it is possible to be as good.

I think coaching staff improved, players improved, facility improved. Analysts added.

I just can’t find a reason to be less than excited

I know we’re all excited about Stingley, but I’m not ready to say we’ll be improved at corner yet.

It remains to be seen BUT Fulton was getting better with each game last season until he got hurt. PFF rates him as the best returning CB in the SEC.

Derek was the highest rated CB in 24/7's history and the #3 overall player in his class. He gave up one completion his junior year of high school and his coach said that was only because they were in prevent with a large lead going into halftime.

And it's not like he didn't practice with LSU during bowl preparation where Dave Aranda said that he was the best defensive back on the field.

Kicker, Ilb and TE. We don't throw to the tes a bunch, but Foster played for 4 years and was a team captain.

We’ve been sold a bill of goods about our offense every offseason for well over a decade, that’s reason enough to be skeptical.

How many years of that decade was under the previous coach?

Eaux, so far, in his two years as HC has had two different OC's. 2017 was very different than anything LSU had seen before offensively. Last year they were in the shotgun more than they ever had before.

The results may not have been great for that side of the ball but to say it's been the same as the last decade it just ridiculous.

The previous coach always said it would change and everything remained the same year-in year-out. Not the case now.

One advantage he may have with the offensive changes is that he has proven to be a very good receiver out of the backfield. I could see him getting significantly more playing time this year.

The one bit of solace I have in this matter is that Devin is not being replaced with a first year player. The guys who are in line to replace him all have experience. Divinity #45 is returning for his senior year.

I agree. But from a pure athleticism perspective DWs greatest strength was covering ground. I think he made up for some missed assignments that others had made.

As much as I will get blasted for this I think we may see improvements in the MLB play from a pure run stopping thumper perspective. But sideline to sideline no one can replace him.

Your thoughts please.

We have experienced returnees this season where last season at this time we had a plethora of inexperienced players.

There’s no question about that.

Now we have to bring the talent together especially on the OL and maximize what we have on paper.

Also a bit concerned about NT. Although we have Shelvin and Iko both are unproven with minimal playing time. If one of them gets hurt we might have some trouble.

Offensive Line

We were one of the worst OL in the nation (89 TFL - 110th in NCAA). 35 of those TFL were sacks so that leaves 54 times where the ball carrier was tackled in the backfield on running plays. Thats over 4 times each game! That’s a depressing stat coming from an LSU program that has a history of running the ball well.

Being a year older does not always equal improvement. Charles is over rated by previous LSU standards and Deculus was a train wreck.

One of my biggest issues last year was with the punt return game. This is a game of inches in which we gained very little of last year in our punt return game. Giles was never my player of choice at PR. A productive PR game is a one two punch as it relates directly to field position and momentum. LSU football has always been its strongest with a good PR game and of course with a DL line that could dominate at the point of attack by being aggressive and rotating capable guys to stay fresh.

He ran a 4.42 and he's 237 pounds. That just doesn't happen.

He was unblockable, could rush the QB, chase sideline to sideline, 1st team All-American... Probably the best LSU linebacker ever just sayin.

Derek, I hope Cade is better than Cole, but the odds are he won’t be this year and that’s ok. He just needs to be reliable inside 40.
