ESPN is going full on lobby.

It's absolutely disgusting.

They went out of their way to lobby for Bama on a morning show they claimed they never even talk college sports on a Monday..

I'm so sick. I wish we could have kept the 2 score lead as a final.

They said they should put the best teams in.

What is the point of playing?? According to them then just put the 4 most talented rosters in. Put the top 4 recruiting rankings in.

CFN today still predicts BAMA vs Ohio St in the championship after beating LSU in the Peach Bowl.

LINK

quote:

1. What It All Means: Week 11 And after all of that, and after all of the fuss, Alabama is still probably going to find its way into this thing. For a while there early on this season, it was easy to envision the possibility of a College Football Playoff with four first-time programs to the fun. Wisconsin was crushing and killing, Penn State was coming up with a few nice wins, LSU was ripping everyone apart, and Florida was looking promising. At the moment, Minnesota and Baylor are wonderful stories that keep on going. But we all know how this is probably going to play out. After this weekend, LSU is all but locked into a College Football Playoff spot for the first time. It’ll take a total collapse – two losses – to miss out, even if it loses the SEC Championship. Clemson would have to come up with an epic gag to not go 13-0, and Ohio State is probably going to get either Minnesota or Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship – neither one has more than a haymaker of a shot at pulling that off. And if Penn State beats Ohio State to get to the Big Ten Championship? Then we have a wild debate about what to do with the 11-1 Buckeyes, but they’re looking untouchable at the moment. Which leaves the elephant in the room. If the committee blew off Alabama’s resumé the first time around and ranked it No. 3 on all eye-test, then what happens now when the one loss is to the team that’s probably going to be No. 1 the rest of the way? If it’ll be LSU, Ohio State and Clemson, who’s that fourth option? Oregon? It lost to Auburn. If Bama beats Auburn at Auburn to close things out – especially if it does so impressively – that’s it. That’s the cover for the CFP, even if the Ducks go 12-1 and win the Pac-12 title. Utah? The loss to USC on the road could be a hard-ceiling to getting into the CFP. Minnesota might get to the Big Ten Championship, but if it loses, at 12-1 it won’t get in over 11-1 Alabama. 2017 Wisconsin was 12-0 before losing to Ohio State in the Big Ten Championship and was left out for … 11-1 Bama. Oklahoma? At 12-1, if it beats Baylor twice, maybe, but there’s nothing WOW on the resumé – which isn’t fair, considering Auburn would be the only big thing Bama could crow about. Georgia? If it wins out, yeah, it’s in and Bama is out, but in the College Football Playoff rankings leading up to the finish line, losing at home to South Carolina stings. So as the rankings keep coming out every Tuesday night, get ready for a whole lot of screaming and yelling from a portion of the public that thinks the CFP committee, ESPN, and the college football gods are biased towards the SEC and the Crimson Tide. But that’s the problem with the system. Alabama might have just been rocked at home by LSU, and it might not have anything on its schedule worth chirping about, and it still might be considered one of the four best teams by the committee.

How anyone can look at their schedule and still believe they would be better than other 1-loss teams is mind numbing.

That press coverage call at the end may be what lets the gumps back in...

ESPN gets most of its ratings and clicks from the Birmingham market. They are just trying to keep them entertained. The CFP committee will not give 2 shits about what ESPN thinks or wants. As long as there are 4 or more undefeated or 1-loss conference champions, nobody is taking the backdoor.

I guess we'll see, but the focus groups must be leaning heavily toward gumpland...

How anyone could watch that game Saturday and think Bama would win a rematch is mind boggling.

Yeah CBS was lobbying a bit also as soon as the game ended. There's still lots of football to go, so who knows? We were 7th going into conference championship weekend in '07. It could come down to Alabama, Oregon & Oklahoma all with 1 loss, so who has the best loss?
I'd rather focus on LSU's business. Hopefully we're still focused on one game at a time.

So basically they are showing college football programs that you can schedule cupcake teams for easy wins but make sure you have 2 solid teams scheduled. And of those 2 solid teams if you beat one and just keep it relatively close but lose on the second, it’s all good.

The most disgusting thing is that it completely invalidates our win on Saturday. It’s like it never happened. They did it to us in 2011 and they’re trying to do it again. If Bama gets in over a 12-1 power 5 conference champ, then the system is broken and all semblance of fairness and impartially is out the window.

Good. Hope they sneak in. Would love a cakewalk to a national championship and mulligan redemption. It would also mark the end of this mulligan bullshite when Ed O beats them by 30+. Let's see the narrative then when Bama continually gets arse raped by the ranked teams they play: see Clemson 44-16.

Know why? CBS destroyed in rating Saturday. ESPN broadcasts all of the playoff games and knows that and LSU/Bama rematch will get a lot of views.

frick dem doh..................... they don't deserve it.

If Oklahoma loses again, bama will slide in. I dont see Oregon getting the nod over bama even though they win the pac12.

No conference should have 2 teams unless there are many undefeated teams. Alabama lost to LSU and giving them another chance instead of another team does not make any sense. It is like the playoff started with more than 4 teams and Bama lost.
