Listen, expectations have been high and always will be high

for any LSU coach
No one is expecting O to accomplish anything they wouldn’t expect of any other LSU head football coach. It’s championship level or bust in this conference
Pleas stop acting as if O is getting an unfair shake. He’s doing a damn fine job so far. The pre-excuses are not needed

This is the best LSU team since 2012 IMO

I’m no longer worried about the people that make excuses for O. Scott Woodward is in charge now, and he doesn’t care either.

O has gotten the opportunity of a lifetime here at LSU. He's done pretty well so far, but we still havent taken that next-level step. This year is huge for him. I will not make excuses if he ends up going 9-3 again.

This is his best team and I expect big things. He's recruiting at a very high level too. This next class is going to be one of the best.
If O keeps bringing in top 5 classes LSU will be competing every year for hardware.

I agree with everything you stated. However, there is a loud minority that will never be satisfied with Orgeron. That said, there will probably always be a select few that will ride with him no matter what.
I expect to compete for championships every year. I dont expect to win them every year. I understand that there is a very slim line between a two-loss team and a one-loss team most years. First, we have to get over this Bama hump.

I don't know why some of yall or so obsessed with this myth.
OP is dead on. No one's making excuses. He can win or he can't. If he can't, next man up.

I am fine with the expectations. What is pathetic on this board is the absence of reality. At November 2015 our talent level especially on the line of scrimmage had noticeably declined. We had more kickers on scholarship than linebackers. We had a very below average quarterback room/roster.. we had had three or more years of the media and the fan base calling for the coach to be fired. We screw up firing miles that November. Then Fournette gets hurt and we fire him. Don’t get fisher don’t get Herman. Many people and the media crap all over Orgeron. Ruin our recruiting on key recruits in 2016. Same people continue to crap all over Orgeron.
Anyway it is a freaking miracle that Orgeron has turned around the roster and resurrected the program back to a high level. The Good Lord must have helped get Burrow and Cole Tracey. Now the guy has for the most part fixed the flawed roster. Still playing in the toughest conference and against the best coach and program. Whatever. Rather than talking about expectations and crapping on the program in general. Focus on something else.

Someone please explain to me where O has failed you thus far.

Not true. You can't just recruit a bunch of top athletes and expect to win automatic championships. It doesn't work that way. Coaching is at least half the equation.
You can think of recruiting as your ceiling or potential. The athletes are the tools. The coaches are the operators of those tools.
Under Les Miles, LSU averaged a #8 recruiting class. With those same numbers he averaged a #14 end of year ranking. His coaching prevented those classes from reaching their full potential or beyond.
It appears as though CEO is willing to try different things to succeed I just worry that he's too stubborn and hard-headed to get out of the way. Old habits die hard.

I think you mean 2018, when we couldnt pass block against any decent defense and couldnt really run block against anyone worth a crap. We had to move a 3-4 DE to the Nose just to get by on the DL.
SMH- I mean really.
You dont have to pump up O by pissing on the previous coach.

LSu could hardly fill a defense last year in the NY6 bowl. Wouldve gotten stormed by most of the top offenses in the big bowls. LSu played a piss ant school without their QB and by far best player. But yet O fixed the depth problem back in 2016? OK, have it your way.

Ha, go back and look at how many players made a pro roster off the 2015 and 16 teams. O inherited a gold mine the best in 20 years of any coach. Other than Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma, who inherited a better gig? Go back as far as you want. This should be good.
I wonder if Riley is the one that performed this miracle you speak of. Maybe you got the two mistaken.
Lets hope O wins a championship this year or at least beats an evenly matched team in a NY6 bowl.Thats the best scenario for LSU football regarding the HC.
We can cheer for the coach and hope for the best but still be skeptical until he gets it done.

One of the first things that happened was about half the offensive lineman transferred or were processed. This caused immediate depth issues.
I don't understand why it's so hard for people to admit this.
O is just now digging himself out of that hole.
For some reason they had depth issues on the defensive line as well. When 4 linemen take all the snaps of a game something is going on.
Does this sound like a team with an embarrassment of riches?
If the depth was there it wasn't making it's way to the field.

If you mean development, I would say it's about 30%. Talent is still overwhelmingly the most important aspect.

Once O wins a natty, and also sustains a high level at LSU, I will be more than happy to have him as our coach. He is doing a good job so far, but an LSU fb coach should be winning champonships regularly. We are not there yet. And we also haven't beaten satan yet under O. He is trending well, but the job is nowhere near done.

Fair enough.
I was just trying to make a quick point. I didn't spend a lot of time thinking about it.

Talent is going to bring home the hardware and O has it rolling in. What's funny people were worried about O not being able to compete with jimbo for recruits in Texas. O isn't competing with jimbo or anyone else either. He's hitting California and the east coast. This class is going to be one of the best ever and it's just getting started.
