So what does the LB room look like this year and next without Brooks.

Stevens is a pseudo LB. Figured Brooks would play this roll/ WLB next year.

Cox is done after this year.

Ray Thornton and Andrea Anthony Are kinda LB/DE but both are seniors. So gone after this year.

Clark could have a hell of a year like a few have recently and leave after this Year. He could also come back.

Lee is unproven. Likely starter next year

Baskerville is unproven. Likely starter next year.

The freshman will push for playing time next year. White, Sampah, and Webb.

Not sure on true LB recruits we have. I know we have a few but they aren’t signed yet so no need to count them in this.

Losing Brooks will hurt this year, but it’ll be felt next year even more for sure. Likely he would have left in next year’s draft anyway if he started. He was going to be a stud, high draft pick, play maker, And overall stud. Losing a guy like that and one of the highest rated recruits in his class sucks.

Just makes us thin this year and we will need to find another that can produce the past rush he gave us.

We always seem to be thin at LB, but then also have true studs. It's actually been quite interesting to me.

I think the switch to 4-3 helps here for base and then many times you're playing 4-2-5 or variations anyway.

Easily it hurts to lose Brooks, wish he would stay.

I would imagine we’re going to be in 4-2-5 a good amount of the time with Clark and Cox as the main Lbs

Stevens will play a lot of Box Safety and a sorta hybrid LB roll I assume. I think that’s where he absolutely shines.

End of the year in 2018 he was on a war path doing that.

I agree. Especially with our safety/DB talent. I think Baskerville gets most of the reps at the true WLB when we are in base 4-3.

Sampah & Webb have both bulked up to a weight to where they can see time this year per Shea today. No worries there.

I am interested in who those 5 DBs are. But I am Figuring it’s

Stingley and Flott as the outside CBS

Vincent will plays a Nickel/Safety Roll
Steven will play a Box Safety/LB roll and sometimes a true safety roll
Harris or Hampton will play FS and be the sort of deep centerfielder back there.

Although honestly idk why Bo’s defense is gonna look like.

Elias Ricks?

Can anyone explain the downvote?

ETA. I was responding to Sammy Tigers’s naming defensive backs, not Ricks as an LB.

I think Ojulari will factor into the LB room. He does well on the edge but can also be a thumper. He has the frame and athleticism to play anywhere from DE, OLB, or ILB.

Baskerville, Lee, White, Sampah will be back next year. Clark is a possibility but could leave if he has a really good year. We have three recruits coming in next year projected to play LB. I'd bet we'll look at a transfer again next year if we're low on depth. It hurt losing Brooks, Starks, and McCallum within the last year.

did that on purpose just so you’d have something to complain about. Hope it gave you satisfaction.

No one is talking about Josh White but O can’t stop talking about him.

Baskerville has started and is proven. Clark has all the potential in the world. Brining Raesjon Davis and I’m sure they’ll take at least 2 more.

Don’t get me wrong losing Brooks hurts but the fact that we landed Cox now is huge.

We really need Clark and Baskerville to stay healthy and on the roster

I suppose it’s because he’s a true freshmen and Flott was pretty good

White is the guy I’m most excited about. I haven’t seen anything from Sampah yet to get me believing.

As for vets, I don’t see Baskerville as being an sec level starter. Hope I’m proven wrong.

Baskerville is not unproven. You didn’t mention Ojulari. Webb, Sampah and White will be top candidates for starters next year.
