A bunch of people need to remember that Les Miles did not suspend JJ and Johns because they did anything wrong. He suspended them because they need to devote full attention to their day in court. While Les believes that JJ is the better qb he also believes that JJ is not the better option for the team with this hanging over his head... distracting him and distracting the team by making everyone on the team have to deal with the uncertainty of the possibly pending trial.
Lifting his suspension wouldn't have him starting anyway.

LSU suspended a QB implicated in a felony. It looks bad for LSU when a representative of the school is involved in something like this. They were well within their rights to take action against him despite the outcome of the case.
The SENIOR starting quarterback
and "Unity Council" member no less.
The J-SWAG should have kept his arse in bed where he belonged.
Unbelievable lack of leadership, forethought and decision making there, but not surprizing at all.

I think you make excellent points. My only counter is that if it is a team or a University rule prohibiting participation in varsity sports while under pending felony charges, then it is what it is, good, bad, right, or wrong.
On a lighter note. There is a ridiculous, but funny picture of Jefferson in "booking" (it's a spoof photo) at the EBR jail. We could all benefit from a laugh right now.
Today's article itself is a preview of sporting events for the coming week, so make sure you scroll down to the "Saturday" section.

I have personal knowledge of BRPD getting a "noise complaint" in a particular neighborhood of Baton Rouge. BRPD goes to the first house they come to with a lot of cars parked out front, knocks on the door, roughs up and detains 2 LSU students.
Turned out that BRPD had the wrong address and there were charges brought against BRPD for police brutality, etc. for this incident.
BRPD is NOT infallible. They CAN make mistakes.

I am still on the fence about the whole JJ thing, but I 100% agree with his sentiments on Alleva. The guy does not impress me AT ALL.

If Jefferson is found not guilty, he should be thankful to Alleva for jumping the gun.
Some of you people are so stupid.
YOU CAN NOT have a guy on your team that is charged with a fricking felony.
If this were 2nd degree drug or theft felony charges no one would be saying shite.

Your motivations are obvious, but your point is wrong. The precedence has been set. Ryan Perriloux was on the team and he was charged with presenting a fake id(a felony). Innocent until proven guilty.
This was done because Alleva got nervous about all the media attention.

I love how you idiots honestly think he has any shot at a defamation or due process suit against LSU. Unreal how stupid you guys are

am not so sure a constitutional lawyer is needed to make up the rules regarding a college football team. Miles has ZERO choice but to suspend Jefferson once his arrest was made.
I feel if miles had any choice whatsoever , JJ would still have his starting job. Lee didn't have a snow ball's chance in hell of winning the starting job. I imagine to just a select few, JJ being arrested was looked upon as almost divine intervention.

Chris, you are entitled to your opinion but, as the late Daniel Patrick Moynihan famously and correctly pointed out, you are not entitled to your own facts (or your own version of the law). The due process to which each citizen is entitled under the Constitution is "due process of law", not due process of university administration or due process of athletic team rules and regulations. Maybe the EBR Parish authorities have been overly zealous due to the high profile nature of the case, and maybe they haven't. Maybe Mr. Alleva was imprudent in his statement, and maybe he wasn't, depending on how you interpret it--there certainly is no issue that the players were in violation of university rules by being where they were when they were, wholly apart from whether you think those rules are fair or even make sense. But to liken this case to the Duke lacrosse situation, and then to pretend that you understand Constitutional law or the federal or state laws of criminal procedure (notwithstanding your silly and self-serving "it doesn't take a lawyer" nonsense) shows that you are reasoning from a bias, not reasoning to a conclusion. (Oh, and "Ph.D"??? Spare us.)

so you're saying that charged felons should be allowed to play on the football team?
