Heck, John Brady beat Coach K. You think he will again?
Not at Arkansas State or wherever the hell he's at.

Eh no problem with the letter, we all now know there will be 100's of letter to editor calling that guy an idiot with the message 51-14 and 2007 attached to it.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion as long as they are able to back up why they believe a certain trend I have no problem letting each person believe what they want.

John Coopers career at Ohio St. Last two conference records are identical to LSU's last two.
And at Ohio State, one of the truly elite programs in college football history, that's not good enough, and he got fired.
In nine seasons since then, they've been to BCS bowls about a hundred times, won a NC, played for two others, and have absolutely owned the Big Ten.
But by all means let's keep Miles at $4 million a year because he's better than Curley Hallman.

How about if we swapped schedules with Bama the last two years and let them play Fla twice and we play Tenn twice. Anyone think there wouldn't have been a different result.
Yes, the different result would have been that, in 2008, they maybe go 11-1 in the regular season and win the west, while we maybe go 4-4 and still finish 3rd. In 2009, they probably still go 14-0 and we maybe go 10-3 and still don't win the west or play in a BCS bowl.

At the end of the day, it will not come down to Les Miles football acumen. It will come down to whether or not he can continue to reel in top ten recruiting classes and then get lucky with his QB
Why does he have to "get lucky" with his QB, while others simply recruit good ones and develop them?
quote:
a great QB can fix a lot of ills.
Yes, maybe Miles should recruit one and develop him.
quote:
How in the heck do you think Curley Hallman got this job in the first place?
Because the same bargain basement attitude that got Les Miles the job in 2005 prevailed in 1991, also.

He was at OSU for 13 years. To say he got fired because he had a bad 2 year strech is stupdid and wrong. He was fired because of his failure to win a NC, his bowl record and his record against Michigan. There were also internal problems in regards to academics and discipline.

It looks like a lynch mob on this board.I personaly think with what he had to work with that he did a pretty good job.He had to settle for the qb spot and did try lee again during the year and got more of the same as he was last year. The oc has to start putting in plays our offence can run and not what he dreams will happen.Give us a qb like mc coy or whats that qb at florida name? and then lets see how we play even with our o-line

Yes He was

Not really because the 6-6 season followed by lackluster 8-4 season did help to get him followed.
quote:
He was fired because of his failure to win a NC,
according to many fans, although they did not complain when he led them to 5 Top 10 finishes in 6 years.
quote:
his bowl record and his record against Michigan.
Those did hurt, Miles is 4-1 and as of right now
Florida 2-3
Alabama 3-2
Which is not bad, however Florida is only one of those programs that can be considered elite the entire time Les has been here. Michigan for much of Coopers time at Ohio State was one of best teams in country.
I wont address the last part because it would be mainly speculation. Although LSU has had it share of disciplinary infractions with players.

Let me guess...you didn't use those words (w/emphasis) "onward and upward," exactly (w/emphasis).

Why the frick does this matter? Why does it matter where I do or don't put my money? How does my inability to shitcan Miles have anything to do with my position that he's not the right man for the job? Google "ad hominem." If nothing else you'll increase your vocabulary.

The sad thing is if supposed "Fans" want the team to succeed next year, they would not be publishing a fire LM article in the Advocate. I don't believe you can argue out of both sides and say you want him fired at this point and want the team to succeed next year. To me, that's not a true fan. That's a poor person whose tired of being heckled by a family member or friend that lives in Alabama, Florida, or Mississippi. That means that is where your head is.
Two years with two different inexeperienced QBs and we end up here. Suppose they let him go now, then you would certainly lose recruits before signing day. At this point, LSU would suffer tremendously because the best options at coach are already signed with other teams. It absolutely makes no sense to complain at this point. It makes the best sense to see what happens during the spring and look forward. Yes, you're embarrassed to have a 8-4 and 9-4 record two years in a row, but it's not the end of the world. Should you be satisfied? No. Should you put it in perspective? Yes. That's what is missing.
After 2004, Saban left LSU by choice. Not solely because of the money, I believe it was because he was not happy here in these surroundings. Heck, one year he almost drowned to death here. He did not leave on top, nor did he leave with a stellar bowl record.
All you're setting yourself up for is for LM to actually succeed and leave on top. Then you'll be in the same boat as with Saban back in 2004. Once again not being able to appreciate not being in the Independence Bowl year after year and becoming Notre Dame. We are still better than that with a LM coached team. Maybe we need to get that supposed "Sure Thing" coach and watch the team win only six games in a year ladden with seniors. Or maybe we need to have that one coach come in go 12-0 or 13-0 and watch him leave within two years to realize that most high-profile coaches look at LSU as a stepping stone and not a home. Les Miles has treated it as a home. Unlike Saban who left, he turned down the Michigan job when given the opportunity. He believes in this team and this town despite all the crap he has to deal with from the nega-fans.
I wanted 10 wins this year, but I'm still optimistic because of how many games we were able to win with 2 different young QBs back-to-back. I like where we are because 8-9 wins is the result of a Les Miles down cycle as opposed to Curly Hallman or Gerry DiNardo. This is the down cycle.
