Georgia is ranked 5. We are playing on the road.

Their pitching lineup:

quote:

UGA – So. RHP Emerson Hancock (5-0, 0.58 ERA, 31.0 IP, 8 BB, 37 SO)

quote:

UGA – So. LH C.J. Smith (2-0, 2.81 ERA, 16.0 IP, 4 BB, 17 SO)

quote:

UGA – Jr. RH Tony Locey (3-0, 2.17 ERA, 29.0 IP, 13 BB, 43 SO)

That's a pretty damn good rotation. If we win one of three, that would be a good weekend. Winning two of three would be awesome. Losing all three would not be a huge shock.

I expect us to wine none, one, two, or three games. I just can't see it going any other way.

I'm looking at this weekend and next weekend as one. This is probably the toughest part of the schedule, and if we could split the next 6 weekend games I'll be happy.

6-3 in the SEC after 3 weekends with a schedule that gets easier would be a good start.

They're due for some mean reversion.

They gave up 10 runs in their first SEC weekend series. We can get to them.

Edit to add for accuracy that seven of those runs were in one game.

One of their top hitters is catcher/1b/DH John Cable. He was a JUCO all American a few years ago. He played at UNO after JUCO but was injured and sat out all last season. He is a grad transfer for UGA and has seemingly done well for them.

And our hitting is due to come alive. Not sure if either will happen this weekend but would be great if both happen.

I feel like we take Friday and Sunday, not sure abotu Saturday. I think Locey is our 2nd best SP but is throwing Sunday. Smith has been up and down and you can see he has far less IP than the other weekend guys (half the innings as Hancock actually).

If we can get consistent production from the entire lineup we win 2 out of 3.

This is LSU baseball. We should never expect, much less consider it a "good weekend" to win 1/3 games in a series. I don't care who we're playing or where we're playing. 2/3 should be the floor for a "good weekend" for this program, period.

should be great the whole weekend. Really looking forward to it.

I'm excited because I think this will be our first REAL test of the season. Our OOC slate was pretty pedestrian, and we opened last weekend on the road against SC who isn't all that good, but to our credit we did sweep. I know LSU isn't the elite LSU they usually are but will still be by far better than anyone we've played thus far.
