re: Let us talk Les Miles for a second....

I was talking to some guy named Bill higher up.
I agree, we're getting corn holed by the SEC on our schedule.....every siingle year while Bama cruises. That's never been disputed.
We didn't in 07.... But we screwed the pooch against Arky in a crucial home game and put our destiny in someone else's hands. My only point is Bama was lucky in 11 and so were we in 07.

Technically we needed help in 2003 as well. Or do you conveniently forget that fact?

Maybe Saban did start this rodeo, but Miles has maintained it. I don't care if the media likes him. I don't care if he doesn't do the best interviews in the national media. He wins, he recruits. In my opinion, those two things are all that matters. Bama fans don't care that Saban is such an a-hole. Why should we care if Miles is a little, well.....

Sure, I'll play even though nobody is really going to see this post on the 25th page anyway...
First of all, Miles Haters are typical haters who will always bitch about Les no matter what he does. He is just that kind of personality... a very atypical coach who is so comfortable in is own skin that he acts wacky when other coaches clam up and give cookie cutter answers to the ESPN interviewers.
The best example of how Les Haters will always hate no matter what is the '07 Au game. I can promise you that there wasn't a better seat in the entire stadium than ours for that game and he made an awesome call that won the game in true Mad Hatter style.
Also, think about this for a moment... almost all of those horrible moments that Les has been ragged for took place with Jordan Jefferson on the field. I think that JJ was the perfect practice QB but was a horrible performer who figured that it was better to overthrow a wide open WR deep than to risk a pick. This made him the worst passing QB that I have ever seen at a powerhouse type of football program. Now there are a couple of other moments without JJ but the main body of griping material was with him under center.
What I like about Les is his loyalty to those in his program. The best example of this is the huge difference in the way that he and Saban handle defeat. Nicky has never taken responsibility for anything less than perfection. In every single loss, he has thrown coaches or players under the bus. On the other hand, Les has always taken responsibility for everything that has not gone well while he has coached at LSU. He makes sure that his coaches can leave with their pride if they need to go and he will always credit players and/or coaches for anything good that happens including winning an NC.
I could go on and on because I just plain like the way that the guy is 100 percent comfortable in his own skin no matter where he is or what he is doing. He had a blast in Iraq and that alone made me like him a little more.
Miles is an all around better man than Nick is and IMO, he does many things much better than Saban ever has. Without dragging this one out, I simply see Saban as being made by an LSU program that was ready to get serious about winning at the time and then by the extreme support that he got at Bama. This snowballed into a dynasty for the desperate gump faithful who were hungry for an NC worse than a zombie craves brains.

Ok so we were lucky to win both???? Is that your point
Or is this a "well since you're saying miles was lucky then Saban was lucky too" retort?
Which is it LNCH?

I'd rather a shitty family man, like Saban, who wins a lot of national titles. What difference if he is a family man, he's a football coach
Gtfo you national title dreamer. we got our 10 win seasons and we're happy with our family guy coach!

You really are a meauxrawn. If you really think about it (don't hurt yourself) bama has had plenty luck in each of the BCSNC seasons under saban. The vast majority of of teams that win the NC have luck at some point in the season.
Les doesn't have any losses as embarrassing as UAB and ULM on his resume since he has been at LSU. The main difference between the two is Les is man enough to shoulder the blame for tough losses. Lil nicky always shifts the blame away from himself. After each loss he implies or directly blames the players for not being focused on the process. The other team had something to prove. The 5* players are pouting on the bench. He even blames the media when he can.
I'm convinced you are an alter but I know there is a segment of the fanbase that agrees with the points you keep regurgitating. If anyone who claims to be an LSU fan can't enjoy this era of football under both saban and Les they have to be miserable human beings with pathetic lives.

My point is you and your ilk that love to idolize Saban seem to have incredibly selective memories. Y'all give Saban all the credit in the world, but think Miles is a buffoon that has lucked into his 80% win total over the last 9 years.

Miles Haters are typical haters
I really think it has a lot to do with the fact that some back in 08 and 09 made the call in their mind that Miles was leading the LSU football on some kinda doom days thing and we would never be nationally/SEC relevant again. Once they had formed/expressed that opinion, many of those have been unwilling to change it even after our 9 yr period of success. They simply believe in their heart of hearts that Miles has been lucky or that almost anyone can come to LSU and be just as successful or more successful than Miles.
It really doesn't effect their opinion that LSU is winning games at almost an 85% clip since 2010. They still feel the same way bout Miles and cover those feeling now with...I don't like the way he handled our QBs in 2011 or I don't like the fact we run the ball or I don't like the fact we don't beat lesser teams by more or I don't like how he talks to the media or some other bitch.
To me, its like do we want to look at the big picture or do you want to look at the little picture. My biggest knock on Miles has been his team's QB play, or lack there of, since 08. I fully understand the RP cluster, but really...1 yr of above average QB play since 08 for a program like LSU??? But to me, that's little picture. Big picture is 2 SEC titles....not bettered in the SEC. Big picture is 3 west titles...not bettered in the SEC...big picture is SEC wins...best in the SEC. Big picture is leading all BCS programs in wins. Big picture is 8 of 9 seasons NR...not bettered in the SEC. Big picture is 7 of the last 9 yrs with 10 wins or more...not bettered in the SEC. Big picture is 2 appearances in BCSCG....bettered by one SEC team.
As a LSU fan who has been following our program longer than 30 yrs, what Miles has provided me in the last 9 yrs in the form of never before success if freaking amazing. imo

what an endless discussion that no side will ever "win". nor will either side budge, which is the ridiculous part of this.
don't give me the 2007 bit. did LSU lay an egg vs ark, of course. west virginia had to play with a back up qb just as LSU did. LSU won, and w vir did not. LSU had a better TEAM.
plenty of people on here want to point out that saban is such a hard arse and that leads to titles. that may be correct. what i think is funny is that most of the people on this board would be fired if they worked for such a hard arse. but they expect it out of others. i think that is funny.
there is another thread arguing about mainieri being the best in the SEC. on that thread his stats are given as the main argument as to why he is the best. miles stats, however, are not good enough.
it is the fact that one side never listens to the other in this discussion. but it never ends. we all have different ideas as to what constitutes a "good" coach. so our opinions will obviously be different.
accept the fact that both miles and saban are very good, and very different coaches. we are very lucky to have had both at LSU. we are very lucky. am i happy when LSU loses when they reasonably shouldn't, or course not.
just easin' the tension, baby. life is good.

LSU wins. When it doesn't the players don't quit.
Great recruiter.
He can laugh at himself.
He's comfortable in his on skin.
He doesn't tell anyone anything.

When you learn to communicate in complete thoughts, I'll get back to you Timm.
I'll tell you what you should already know.....you don't have to love Miles to love LSU.....a point which is seemingly lost on you and your pointy-headed friends.

Does anyone think its possible for this board to have a Les Miles thread without Alabama or Nick Saban being brought up? frick those guys.

His name always gets thrown out by one side or the other. Lay of the land.

Not possible. He's our previous coach. There will ALWAYS be a comparison.

You really have no place to attack someone's intelligence in threads like this. You constantly ignore everything that demonstrates Miles is a great coach, and then you just throw out insults to someone that makes an obvious drunk post.
No one said you need to love Miles to love LSU. But for you and others like you, trying to discredit 9 years of results and act like it's nothing more than smoke and mirrors is laughable.

If your siding with Timm....you must be stoned out of your wits LNCH....his posts have been "drunk" if u wanna call it that, from the get go....go back and see for yourself young grasshopper.
For the umpteenth thousand time (now I know beyond a shadow of a doubt you're being intentionally obtuse), no one is discrediting what the man has already done, merely that he needs to continue to correct things that I and many others have mentioned countless times on numerous threads. Is there anything wrong with trying to get better?.......to perfect your craft? To eliminate mistakes?
Or are you saying that Miles has peaked as a coach and no longer needs to self-reflect.Because if that's the case, we're fricked beyond belief.
I'm assuming you work....don't you seek to get better at what you do? Go to inservices and conferences? Read trade literature/mags? I do, if for no other to do my fking job better.
