The coaches are on the hook for not trying something different if a qb sucks. For example the NC year, JJ performed poorly while a good backup sat the bench during the NC game.
In fact, there were two. Lee and untried Mett. Both could have done at least as poorly as JJ did that night, and would probably have both done better.
This. It drove me crazy to watch JJ come out there and stink it up without letting one of the other QB's see if they could do better. This was the greatest inhibitor of Miles being successful. Being unwilling to make change when it was needed.

Our oline was getting manhandled and your answer is to put in a less mobile qb that was horrible under pressure?
JLee had a career 1td7ints against bama.

I get so sick of this logic on here.
How possibly could things have been any worse than what Jeff did?

Couldn't get worse than 11/17 64.7 completion %
Lee was horrible on pressure.

So your answer was basically just give up instead of at least try to see if Lee came in and gave a different attack and able to move the ball that night? I really, really don't get that logic. You're not the only one I've heard or seen say that. It just makes no fricking sense whatsoever to me. LSU was playing for all the marbles and was handcuffed. You don't just throw your hands up in the air and say oh well when you have options. frick, bring Mett in.
It was so goddamn obvious that Bama prepared for LSU based off of what offense they ran in the first game - with Jordan Jefferson as starting qb.

I agree miles shouldve tried Lee. All im saying is that a less mobile qb isnt the answer to beating a team that pressures qbs.

To be fair the option offense was the only scheme that had success against bama. But we shouldve had a plan b and we didnt.

Agree on the coaches...to an extent. But it could also be he QB. Mettenberger hit what he aimed at and I thought at times, Jennings was serviceable as a QB if Miles would have taken the cuffs off of him and had gotten a decent receivers coach. I remember seeing a video of Jennings and Harris doing receiver drills and watching the receivers drop passes in their hands and Cameron remarking that we might have to go back to 1950's football
Also Harvey Williams remarked on the QB camps that these kids go to ....like George Whitfield and he changes up their mechanics and confuses the hell out of them, Brandon Harris had spent the summer with Whitfield.

Not really following what you are saying here. Care to elaborate? I didn't think we had a completion rate that high for any quarterback since Jamarcus Russell.

I blame the previous staff and here is why:
- Every qb that we recruited failed to progress in any fashion, some might even say they regressed.
- Every QB that transferred in (DE, ZM) and played seems to have won in spite of our QB training, not because of it.

ALL LSU QBs come back from the Manning Passing Academy jacked up. That's by design. Archie, Peyton and Eli hate LSU. Archie Who? Yeah, his kids are screwing LSU still and deep down, he loves it. Archie may have the smile of a Saint, but he's got killer instinct like a psychopath.

I would LOVE to see BH starting at QB next year, personally. If he surpasses DE, which let's face it, I'll take it. Who among us thought DE would end up on the field at all last offseason, much less being pretty good?

I would be happy to see BH win back the job. That would mean that he has improved a ton. He has the tools and can make some great throws in spite of his poor mechanics. I just haven't seen enough of his game progress to the point that he can make the right decisions such as throwing to check down receivers and pocket awareness.
