Aranda said on the radio yesterday that he's working out and rehabbing from his surgery. I speculate based on all I've heard that we'll first see him in action in the Miss State game.

Same with Divinity, no?

Taking an educated guess, LB depth looks like:

Buck: Key / Thornton / Anthony / Martin / Chaisson
Mike: White / Garnett / Taylor
Will: Alexander / Phillips / Patterson
Sam: Thompson / Divinity / Voorhies? / Queen

Agree?

I'd say Chaisson has a great opportunity to move right behind Key as the season progresses.

Just summarizing what O said in the article, baw.

quote:

Five players, Orgeron said, are in line to help potentially replace a guy who set the school’s single-season sack record in 2016.

The list includes redshirt freshmen Ray Thornton and Andre Anthony, true freshman K’Lavon Chaisson, senior Corey Thompson and sophomore Michael Divinity. Coaches moved Divinity back to outside linebacker after switching him to inside linebacker during the spring, mostly because of depth issues at the position.

I agree with you though, Thompson and Divinity wouldn't make sense to name as Buck replacements. Including them might mean that they had planned on moving Key around. Maybe he will play some Sam this year, who knows.

Goodness the (looking too far ahead...) 2018 front 7 gets me wet

DE: Lawrence / Logan / Farrell
NT: Alexander / Shelvin
DE: Fehoko / Thomas / Moffitt
Buck: Chaisson / Thornton / Anthony / Martin
Mike: White / Garnett
Will: Phillips / Taylor
Sam: Divinity / Queen

The average 247composite rating on those starters is 0.968...

Coach said today that Arden will have a great season "whenever that time comes."

Also said that Chassion (sp?) will be the one to watch for and he can't wait to have both on the field, one on each end.

Pretty sure you're right.
Unless Martin recovers quickly.

Time to reflect. Key misses spring because of "personal reasons." Key comes back and has "shoulder surgery." Key releases video last week working out in sand, flailing arms around with no appearance of any shoulder injury. "Word" is that Key will be ready for Mississippi State.

Maybe Key is healthy and the the shoulder injury is a front to mask that Key is suspended for BYU to avoid anymore scrutiny.

Food for thought.

following up on this, because a quote from O yesterday's update on Key from the Advocate helps clarify this a bit ...

quote:

True freshman K’Lavon Chaisson, an edge rusher that Orgeron compares to Key, has impressed coaches this summer enough for Orgeron to suggest Chaisson and Key could be on the field at the same time this year.

“When Arden’s healthy, you may see K’Lavon Chaisson on one end and Arden on the other,” Orgeron said. “They’re going to be tough to deal with.”

Also in that update, O hasn't ruled out Arden for BYU.
