For all you superstitious people like me.

LSU played for National championship against same team in 1959 at the same venue. The Only other time LSU Heisman played for a championship.

Billy Cannon led LSU beat Clemson at Superdome to win 1st one.

Now we got another Heisman playing Clemson at Dome to win 4th

Among other errors, LSU had already won the NC that year BEFORE playing Clemson in the Sugar Bowl.

LSU won the national championship on the final vote of the UP and AP poll December 7 1958.

Pete Dawkins of Army won the Heisman Trophy in 1958

Billy Cannon led LSU beat Clemson at Superdome to win 1st one.

Tulane Staduim, Superdome was not build until many years later.

LSU played Clemson as the number 1 team at Tulane Stadium on January 1st 1959. Clemson was ranked 12th in the final AP poll.

I hope you were not there for the next 21-0 at the Superdome.

I told Jammie at the card shop up here before that game in 2011, that the 2011 season reminded me so much of the 1959 season and LSU just like that year would come out flat.

Even told him I would not be surprised if the score ended up 21-0, just like the Ole Miss game.

Thankfully, I missed that one. About 20 of us watched it together at a sports bar in Asheville.

LSU didn’t play “for” the National Champions; they were already the National Champions (voted so after the season but before bowl games).

Dome wasn’t around in 1959; built in early 70s.

Billy Cannon wasn’t a Heisman winner...yet. Won it the following year.

Here I am thinking that the Astrodome was the first domed stadium.
