Per Rival, LSU's recruiting class rankings 2013-17.

There can be no argument about lack of talent, especially in comparison with ALL the teams we have played thus far this season.

The EFFORT has not been there this year.In college football, EFFORT is often times the difference between a W and an L.

Something utterly shocking has taken place almost overnight, in Coach O's very first season as our Head Coach.

"Fighting Tigers" football as we have witnessed it since 2000,

when LSU has put more players into the NFL than any other program,

when we have played in 17 consecutive bowl games, including 3 national championships,

when we have won decisively 11 of those 17 bowl games by an average margin of 3 touchdowns,

while losing just 6 by an average margin of 1 touchdown,

is suddenly and surprisingly NOT what we are witnessing AT ALL this season, even in Tiger Stadium.

So far this season, our Fighting Tigers seem more like neutered pussycats.

Something is horribly wrong, and it is not because a few good players left for the NFL, or that we failed to recruit another top ten class this year.

Both of those things have occurred year after year for a very long time, because We Are LSU!

Or.... at least we were, until this season.

If this incredible situation can take place almost overnight, there must be a way to reverse it just as quickly, if anyone at LSU still has cajones.

Overall, yes.

O Line below average and lacks numbers (depth)

D Line slightly above average and also lacks numbers

Both lines need substantial upgrades and it's imperative we address those needs in the 2018 class or 2018 season isn't looking any better.

Where did our offensive and defensive linemen rank in those rankings?

Now, take those same recruiting classes and remove the players who transferred, injured and left for NFL.

How many DL did LSU sign in 2015?

Lots of people want Frank Wilson back but lots of his classes lacked meat for years.

Still well above every single opponent we’ve played thus far.

It just doesn't register with you the lack of depth and suckage on the lines does it. Bless your heart.

Both of our lines are far more talented than every single team we have played. I don't dispute that our lines have been outplayed all year. It isnt because they arent talented, its because our HC is a terrible head coach and our OL coach is a terrible OL coach.

I'll go ahead and link this thread since apparently you can't bump threads anymore.

Our starting OL is more talented and more experienced that both Syracuse and Miss St. and not at all that far behind Alabama and Auburn. Now, the below graphic doesn't include Troy, but I'm going to go ahead and assume our OL is more talented than Troy's.

Who is in charge of making these rankings???? Recruiting is a crap shoot.... maybe this team just isn't as talented as most think..... I will agree that the coaching is not good at all right now...

See above. It's laid out nicely in the thread that I linked. I understand the reasoning behind not allowing tons of threads to be bumped, but that thread needs to stay on the front page. I'm sure SportTiger or someone else wouldn't mind updating it each week to include our opponent.

All teams have to deal with injuries. This is why you can have 85 scholarship players.

Does the head coach not get some credit for failure to retain the players that have been recruited to play at LSU? Why did so many players transfer out? The coaching staff has the biggest hand in that...

We have had injuries every year that affect depth, and we always have a number of players that transfer out. Something worse is happening this year...I guess you think it is a coincidence?

Recruiting rankings aren't 100% accurate, but they aren't worthless. Higher ranked players are going to succeed at a much higher rate than lower ranked players.

Reinforces my belief that O playing freshmen in front of sophs and jrs who waited their turn is causing obvious discontent

You guys put too much stock in recruiting rankings. Regardless, those last five classes don't rank as high when you remove players who have left the program.
