I am not defending the chants. I just think that it is quite time conuseming and pointless to complain about them on this board.

A few comments on the AD's policy:
(1) First of all, banning songs with unofficial verses that contain profanity is ineffectual. Quite literally ANY song can be adapted to incorporate profanity. "God Bless America" could be transformed into "God Bless My C*ck You C*nt." You would have to ban all music from Tiger Stadium in order to eliminate the problem. Even then, the students could just initiate a mass profane chant. Basically, you'd have to ban all human beings from the stadium in order to purge the risk of organized swearing;
(2) Who are these priggish, dainty souls who are mortally offended by obscene words? 75% of the stadium can't even decipher what the students are saying. Does the AD employ a septegenarian nun? Does the Baton Rouge Temperance League happen to sit in the NEZ?

Banning songs isnt going to do anything..The student section still somewhat does an oweo chant

The fact is, this isn't what LSU wants to portray to general public, period. The same way chicken will delete any post he wants if it contains something he doesn't want his site to portray. If it offends you, don't post, or don't go to games.

Haven't read all five pages but I'll give my input. I'm a student (junior) and I personally don't say "suck that tigers dick" or add "beat the shite out if them" to the cheer. And honestly don't see many students who do the latter.
I was pissed when they took away oweo mainly because "you suck" is nothing. Don't get the thought behind that one. Seems relatively pg to me. I'll be even more pissed of one of my favorite songs we have (neck) gets banned because of the dumbshits who say suck that tiger dick. That for sure needs to end and I try to advocate that to friends.
But overall to you old asses who talk about how perfect the student section was in your day, you need to gtfo. A lot of students don't say that shite and as perfect as your little section was back then I'm sure there were still frat douches doing the same type things.
The bottom line is the LSU SS is one of the best/craziest in the nation and you should br proud to have it. The reason teams fear it is because of how rowdy it is and crazy we get. Hell geno smith lined up under the guard when they were backed up in front of us. Teams choose to use the opposite end zone of the SS in overtones. Stop trashing one of the greatest things about the stadium and be proud we're as loud and crazy as we are and have that 12th man affect we do.

This is the first I'm hearing of the "suck a tiger dick" addition. I moved back and forth from student section general seating in the front row, and the Greek section, and heard nothing of it. Its probably unfortunate microphone placement by CBS if this is the case.
I understand why they stop playing. Do I wish the University had more balls? Sure. But its all about the benjamins. That said, 18-23 year olds will never change. We curse. Its not condusive to a "family atmosphere", but in all honesty I don't give a frick about your family atmosphere. I'm in college, drunk, and want to have a good time. I say "kick their arse" and added "you suck" to oh-wee-oh. I don't find this "suck a tiger dick" entertaining in the least, but I'm not exactly in a situation to condemn those who do. Things like this have always, and will always happen, especially in todays PC world.
The student section isn't being moved anywhere, and we're the loudest, most passionate people in the stadium. It has its benefits and disadvantages. If someone has a novel solution, please share, but so far these threads have just included old people bitching/feeling nostalgic, and freshman complaining about something they could easily prevent but choose not to.
Get over it.

Just for the record, this isnt the bands decision to ban the songs..it comes strictly from the Atheletic Department..

There is a fine line...and the students who reference "sucking dick" barrel over that line.

You justify the obscenity by saying LSU is known for having a rowdy and crazy student section...you don't have to be grossly obscene to be rowdy.
For the record, I was a student when they OweeO chant was first banned...im not that much older than you, I just know what is appropriate behavior and what isn't.

I have season tickets in the SEZ and have never heard anything so definitive. Most of the time, the chants from the student section sound like a garbled Chinese long-wave signal intercepted by a ham radio operated by a drunk.

Pick a game and pipe in the lamest music the "old geezers" can think of... say a little Barry Manilow or John Denver. Make the students wish it was only Lady GaGa or Justin Bieber. Maybe then they'll change their tune.

A simple solution would be to have the profanity police patrol the student section, when they hear a student using a naughty word, the profanity police officer can swipe said student’s I.D. card. The student would then be either barred from further games, or forced to do clean up duty on Sunday morning. It would work I tell ya!
