In The Advocate Kelly noted “We have some holes, and those holes need to be addressed. I’ll get a deeper dive on this over the next couple of days. I always try to get through the spring and know my weaknesses because I don’t want any surprises as I go into (fall) camp.”

Been so long since I’ve heard a coach speak this way, know what he needs and honestly address what he needs to address.

Our last head coach needed the head coach at ole piss to tell him we should try blitzing… 2/3rds of the way thru the season.

I’m guessing those weaknesses are: DB depth/ability, interior o line working center to right, and hand in the dirt TE

What was funny about that entire situation, Ed said he responded to Lane’s revelation with “Yeah, I know” thinking that was better than not knowing. What’s worse, knowing and doing nothing about it, or not knowing? . Funny how the defense changed after that

But just the fact that he mentioned this at all to the media is even more puzzling.

And we had umpteen coaches on the shadow staff plus our regular contingent of coaches; yet we played games where we were surprised. Look back at State in 2029, UCLA in 21 and other games where teams played their regular O and we couldn’t stop them.

You know, a lot of fans like to go back and trash talk former, fired coaches. But just honestly sit and think about that entire situation. It’s unbelievable. I couldn’t imagine responding to my own boss with some of Ed’s reasoning and excuses. I was just in complete shock he was saying these things to the public. I have no words.

The Ole Miss game was the first one after Orgeron was fired. One of the coaches admitted that the whole team was down that week and game prep was destroyed. The team recovered the next week.

It’s understandable the team was down. What was unbelievable was Ed’s media behavior. This was not the first time he said puzzling things either. Just completely unaware and unknowingly self incriminating. Not even les was that aloof. He had no clue how to handle himself on a stage that big.

He was too honest and exposed himself at times. But honestly it was refreshing after listening to Les Miles talk in circles for a decade.

In some respects, sure. But not when the truth exposes your entire program as a shite show. Not when you expose your own incompetence to the world. He really should have kept his mouth shut. Really, he never should have been on that stage in the first place.

Weaknesses
1. Tight End
2. Secondary
3. LB

Think the OLine will be solid especially once everyone gets healthy. DL is one of the best in country, Receivers are good, RBs are good and adding Cain, 3 good options at QB. Couple portal spots left I’d love to add another DB and a TE. Hope that Harold Perkins can make a big impact at LB Day 1 which I think he will.

TE (Kole can’t block) and C (Turner gets pushed back too much). Need some competition with dellinger at C.

Feels good going into a fall where the greatness weakness of the team isn’t the head coach.

You ever thought that maybe he wanted to get fired? He knew what he’d walk away with.

Orgeron's off-season preparation and structure was bottom feeder bad. He takes over as head coach after 2016 his proclaimed dream job and our trenches were as soft as I've ever seen them after his first off-season of preparation.

That team had all star talent all over the roster compared to this patchwork roster Kelly is piecing together. I don't think I've ever seen a secondary this questionable since pre-Saban and that's the result of Orgeron's roster building for 4 years.
