Just got an email from LSU Ticket Office telling me how to list my tickets on stubhub

I have never sold an LSU football ticket (not blaming all that do, I get it) and apparently they can tell and are pushing me to list some but damn you think they could hold off on pushing for some profit for longer than less than a week after a pretty embarrassing percentage of UGA fans were in the stadium. With their new partnership they actually make even more money when you sell your tickets whether that be to Tiger fan or a visiting fan.

Got that yesterday and I agree. Nothing on there about trying to sell to an LSU fan first...just concerned about getting a piece of the resale of the tickets they've already sold you.

I agree with the premise of the post, but this doesn't make sense... they already got their money when you purchased the tickets originally. So how to do they profit from this?

This administration has very clearly shown that their revenue is more important than your game day experience. In every way possible, they have made that clear.

A percentage of the fees paid to StubHub are kicked back to the university in exchange for making StubHub the preferred secondary market. More than 50 universities participate.

Joe Alleva needs a vacay to the Hamptons baw. How else do you think he’s going to afford it?

I don't get it...are you complaining about the timing of the email?

I had never sold a ticket before either, but I ended up being unable to fly down for the Ole Miss game. With the partnership, all I had to do was enter the ticket barcodes online and the purchaser had the tickets emailed to them right away, so no worries about payment or having to physically mail them somewhere.

It's actually a pretty convenient service, and I'm glad somebody got to use the tickets.

It's incredibly convenient and safe.

It destroys the complaint that tickets aren't attainable to the common fan. Much easier to pull the app up on your phone and find a reasonably priced ticket on Friday before a game rather than walk around campus looking for a guy on a bike asking everyone he sees if they need tickets.

I'm just saying it sort of shows that they aren't exactly aware of a lot of the complaints of the fans in the Athletic Department. Yeah it was bad timing. We just had our biggest game and it was definitely 25% UGA fans. The only negative of the weekend was how many LSU fans sold their tickets to opposing fans. Then LSU comes out with a blast email reminding everyone how easy it is to sell your tickets online. Shows that they're still a little tone deaf.

I agree. I just think it's underhanded of LSU to partner with them and collect more fees. I believe they used to be about 15% markups on the asking price of the tickets. I just bought MSU and Alabama tickets for a friend and the fees were up to 30%. LSUs job is to cater to its own fans as well as make a profit that can be reinvested into itself to enhance the programs and experience. There's a balance. They've pretty much gone all in on making as much money as possible while hanging onto the fans that will pay it while the ones that don't jump ship. They've also increased the fees on their own marketplace for individual tickets. I bought 2 Florida tickets again for some friends and each ticket had a convenience charge and then a "ticket fee" on top of the face value. What the frick is a "ticket fee" if not the price of the ticket?

Yeah, I understand it was disappointing to see that many UGA fans in the stadium, but I don't know what the Athletic Department is supposed to do about it if the tickets are already sold. People can do whatever they want with them after that.

It's silly to think they should withhold information about a service they provide just for the sake of optics.

I would normally agree with you but LSUs athletic department has been so full of boneheaded moves in the last half a decade or so that they've spent most of their good will.

should say, "please try and sell it to someone who will chose to stay for the entire game."

So was the old marketplace. This is just a way for Joe Alleva to keep nickle and diming fans.

Never had issues getting tickets to any LSU event before stubhub.

In the past, LSU was so against ticket scalping and now they encourage it because they get a piece of the pie now.

They would have a person dedicated in the admin building to look for scalping tickets on FB marketplace and craigslist.

Now they actively encourage it. My how times have changed

Well from their vantage point, they want someone in that seat.

They don't really care if it's an LSU fan or an opposition fan. Obviously their revenue from parking, concessions and memorabilia increases with fans that actually use their tickets.

I honestly think that many of those tickets were sold by Tiger fans who didn't want to go see the Tigers lose to a stronger team. Many of them didn't have faith in our boys.

I don't expect that to happen again.
