I love that you think this justifies your opinion.

ETA: How about you share your personal knowledge? Oh , you don't have any? Then maybe be open to other scenarios than the one that only makes Wade look bad.

One thing left out by OP that Jordy stated...

Wade was told LSU would have legal representation present.

IMO, when LSU changed the meeting from Wade, Alleva, King to Wade, Alleva, King, BOS (Williams) and Attorney for LSU, they had set the table to fire him.

I believe Wade was justified to request his attorney be present and his attorney was justified in asking for questions since he is under subpoena.

Is the tape somehow related to a pending federal trial for which the employee is subpoenaed? Does potential exist for self incrimination or tampering/obstruction charges? Does the organization have a history of leaks and poor administration?

I agree these things matter. But, bc of all these things, the employee can't/won't talk, if he has good lawyers. So, you suspend him. You don't fire him.

Lester doesn’t understand how most things work. It’s never stopped him before so why would it now?

I know what path we're trying to go down here, but Benford was also the most qualified to take over interim as well. He's the only one who has been a head coach at a Division I team, Heiar has only been a head coach on the JUCO level. Armstrong never a head coach

Right. No matter how you felt about O’s hiring as the permanent HC, everyone knew he was a nobrainer for interim

It appears Wade is willing to talk. Using your logic, we should be removing Alleva or whoever is pulling his strings from power, right?

Will Wade has presented his strong desire to improve facilities if LSU wants him as a coach. Much like Saban did when he was first hired....for example, the football operations center.

But this is basketball and not football. LSU does not want to spend money on basketball. And now that LSU has had such a successful season the BOS sees the handwriting on the wall. Will Wade is/will be very popular with the fans and will have leverage for LSU to spend the money on facilities he wants.

So the BOS would just as soon get another coach that is not so demanding on improvement of facilities.

I kinda lean towards this as well rather than more nefarious reasons because they want to spend the minimum on athletics as possible. The problem is it is SO short sighted. Men’s basketball should be a big time money maker for the university.

Connect the dots of this guy’s history and an opportunity to champion...
. Be careful saying something like this. I said basically the same thing a few days ago and I was threatened by a admin on here. He said I was making the Will Wade thing a racial issue.

I think because this was the final straw of just inept leadership at this school as a whole. Really the problem that plagues this state in general. Flunkies in positions of power they shouldn’t be and making decisions they should have nothing to do with

I’ll cut alleva some slack but at the same time this is the reason he’s lasted so long, he’s easily controlled.

You're giving them too much credit for thinking this far ahead.

I just looked @ our BOS for the first time. Crappy leadership. They are either attorney’s or in construction. Throw in a insurance lady, farm Bureau reps & a sausage manufacturer. Really lame board.

Imagine as a business owner if an employee is caught on tape, potentially hurting your company, and when you ask him to meet, he says only if he has a list of questions ahead of time and his lawyers present.

What you fail to realize is that every top basketball school cheats, and their higher ups know their coach is cheating, and they know it’s necessary to be successful, and when they are successful they make a lot of money and it’s worth the risk b/c they all pretend they have no knowledge what the coach is doing and he takes all the responsibility of getting caught. Difference is those schools stand behind their guy until the end, b/c being successful in basketball is worth it to them, even though they know they have to “cheat” to be successful.

If Wade having his Lawyer there was a deal breaker for LSU, that’s not right.

I tend to lean towards the fact he wanted prepared questions being the deal breaker, though. Having representation there seems rather normal.

No the big difference is Saban had a President that shared his vision and understood the importance of athletics and its role as a marketer for the university as a whole. F King is the polar opposite.

That's an absurd deal breaker from LSU's perspective. What logical reason do they have for not allowing that?

I hate to say it, but the longer this mess goes on, the more likely it is that you're right. It wouldn't surprise me at all. It's the easy, safe hire.
