LSU coach Paul Mainieri laments (whines really) about LSU recruit Christian Cairo deciding to sign with the Cleveland Indians. One thing some of these coaches should know: It’s about the kids, not their own won-loss record. Btw, Mainieri not long ago signed $4.5M deal with LSU.

quote:

Yes it’s about the rich coach, not the kids

quote:

Well sure, it’s all about him, not the kids

quote:

Right because he’s focused on himself. Not the kids

I’m all for the players making the best decision for themselves and I will root for Cairo to succeed, but IMO he did us somewhat dirty. That guy also repeats himself way too much.

What, like Cairo was doing Mainieri a favor going to LSU?

How much does Bregman make?

What did CPM exactly say? Wasn’t it something like “I guess a million bucks is better than attending classes”? Because if so, this fool is a clown.

Link w/ CPM interview

So did Keith Olbermann

quote:

Coach with four-and-a-half million dollar contract whines about player worth a million not going to play for him for free.

Jacques Doucet response
quote:

Some of the comments and reactions to this soundbite are simply off base. Coach Mainieri is telling a story and recapping what happened. I never heard whining or "he shouldn't have done that". Most people criticizing probably didn't even listen to what Mainieri said. #LSU

Another example of why LSU and anyone who really cares about LSU should never give a crap about what the national media thinks.

They twist and distort things at every opportunity.

Cairo may have been a day 1 starter on the left side of LSU's infield. CPM has a right to be a little frustrated.

There’s no way he should have been allowed to leave once he was in the building scheduling.

Was Mainieri supposed to handcuff him to his desk or something?

No he should have been considered enrolled and unable to sign with a pro team for 3 years.

you realize Zach Lee was actually enrolled and taking actual classes right? The 3 years doesn’t start until the sign deadline ends this summer
