In the Gonzaga regional. Good spot with this many games to go, but this is exactly why we want to get in the 6/7 seed range come tourney time.

LSU as a 6 seed not playing UAB and not in Boise, Idaho will be the perfect spot for this team.

Yeah I'd rather not play the Zags in the round of 32. It would be like '09 all over again with UNC. We need to go on a run with these opportunities we have ahead of us and move up a spot or two in the seeding.

The way the schedule currently lines up, as long as we don’t lose to Auburn, UGA, Vandy and beat one of @Ole Miss or @Arkansas I would think we at least jump up another spot

Exactly what i thought, an 8 seed. Yeah, as good as it is to be in, we gotta get off this 8/9 line

You mean the team that wins the Maui classic every year and then beats up on 32 straight high school teams before choking in the tournament? That's the same you're worried about?

Right and then we still have the SECT that we could pick up a win or two depending on the draw. I think if we can avoid the Bama/Florida side of the bracket that we have a good chance of getting to Sunday.

A couple of wins in the SEC tournament would help. LSU usually doesn’t play well there. Playing for seeding now

Have you seen Gonzaga this year?

A month out the mock matchups are totally irrelevant, but being bracketed with Gonzaga (the #1 overall seed) likely tells you (at least to Lunardi) LSU is seen as currently the "worst" #8 seed at the moment. That said, LSU appears to have at least 2 more Q1 opportunities. BOTH on the road which makes them even bigger. Plus, I'm assuming the SEC kept the final weekend of the regular season open for "makeup" games, so hopefully UF or Mizzou gets put back on the schedule.

With games getting canceled/postponed every day and everybody playing much fewer games overall than in normal years, LSU has a chance to start working their way up the bracket over the next 3 weeks

This might be the best Gonzaga team they've ever had. 20-0 currently, #1 on kenpom with elite offense AND elite defensive metric. #1 team in country from 2 point range.

They beat Kansas, Auburn, West Virginia, Iowa and Virginia on neutral floors. The WCC isn't a total joke and they've 2 game swept BYU there (tournament team).

Also, Gonzaga has been at least to the Sweet 16 in the last 5 tournaments, they havent lost in the first couple rounds in a long while.

Gonzaga is really good. Yes, their league is a joke, but they make it for it in out of conference games.

Honestly while the zags are great I’m not 100 percent scared of them. They have lost as favorites before with a gaudy record and I say that as someone that likes the zags on most years

Much rather be a 10 seed. Can we lose a game to “drop” from 8 to 10?

I've only seen Gonzaga play once this year (a couple weeks ago at pepperdine). Pepperdine controlled the first 30 minutes before folding, but I was extremely unimpressed with Gonzaga.

They looked PATHETICALLY unathletic, almost like robots out there. And yes, we have played several stinkers this year also. I would bet if you combined LSU and Gonzaga rosters and held an nba draft, 3 or 4 of the 5 top picks would be tigers.

With that said, there is a reason they are 950-5 in their last 955 games, and in a VERY small percentage of those games have beaten good teams.

I'm not about to say we beat them if we get them in the tournament. But if we play our best, which is not consistent at all, I like our chances.

This illustrates why we HAVE TO get up to at least a 7 seed, or it will be a quick exit. Huge dropoff this year between Gonzaga/Baylor and the rest...can't be running into one of those two in the second round.

While I would hate to have to play Gonzaga in the second round, I’d be willing to bet Gonzaga would rather see almost anyone other than LSU staring at them in round 2.

That's very true too. LSU's potential makes them a very dangerous 8/9 seed.
