Do some research. Johnson is a rising star. Very very good coach, recruiter and talent evaluator Not to mention probably the best hitting coach in the country

Wayyy better and more “rising” potential than Vitello for sure. And people on here would’ve creamed and say TV was a home run hire. This guy then should be a grand slam if TV would’ve been a home run. Everywhere ( not just one program like UT) this guy has coached he has killed it.!

Tell me what you know about Shloss. Have you played for him, know anyone who has.

Agreed. I think the lack of familiarity with him is driving all this negativity.

Oh well…it’s an outstanding hire and time will show that to be true. In the meantime, the groupthink mob can continue complaining lol

Well said Rosenblatt. So did he have a Hitting coach in AZ or no? If so I hope he brings him to the box with him.

No, he coached the hitters.

Fwiw the Arizona fans aren’t happy and ASU fans are very happy

That’s telling

he has done literally the exact same thing as every other ECU coach since before we sent troops to Vietnam.

Funny thing, Hanny mentioned on the radio earlier that coaches LSU hired w/o coaching/ties to LSU/LA are the ones who done the best… Arnsparger, Saban, Bertman, Gunter, Wade, etc.
He and Ott said what’s been speculated for weeks Skip and his players had their guy Bianco, major booster had his guy and Woodward showed leadership and picked neither guy and a young guy which is needed to spark the program.

okay hire, would have been like my 5th or 6th choice. I’m not sure why a ton of people on this board are blowing Jay Johnson now acting like we got Tim Corbin. Very uninspiring IMO. He may do some good things here, but I much rather would have had Godwin, Dan, Schloss, O’Connor than Johnson. I mean sure he’s done some good, but his track record was not on par with the LSU baseball program IMO.

Well one good thing about whoever the coach was going to be is they will be in a very unique position. We have 2 former coaches of the HOF variety that will still be involved and around the program. You can always continue to learn and evolve your coaching and if he comes in with a good positive attiude to continue to learn and ask questiosn just not about on the field play but recruiting, fundraising, leadership, he has 2 great baseball minds to pick.

Makes me wonder if Pat Casey was brought in for info on Johnson and his pitching coach, and conversations with Bianco centered around his experience coaching against him in super regionals.

a couple of CWS appearances

Why does this all of a sudden matter so little?

He’s won more CWS games than McDonnell.

Very telling.

Get a good pitching coach and we are set then. Bc he can obviously coach up hitters.
