"The issue for us was not having any physicality from our (forwards) to start the game," Vanderbilt coach Jerry Stackhouse said. "We talk about setting the tone and being physical, and we give up three offensive rebounds to start to the game and let them know that they could punk us. And that pretty much was downhill from there."
Damn Jerry went all in lol

I like a coach that calls them like he sees it but If he were a coach at LSU this would be called “throwing the players under the bus”

not the same thing

Criticizing your players efforts isnt the same as blaming them for playing poorly or shooting poorly
Im all for blaming them for lack of hustle. There's no excuse for it. Players have bad games

Let CPM come out and say “well we talk about starting strong and we go out and our hitters strike out 3 times and out starting pitcher gives up a home run in the 1st inning. We let them know they could punk us” and watch this board melt lol.

Wade has used the exact phrase "punk us" multiple times in his 4 years at LSU and no one has said anything.

I see its been mentioned but what he is criticizing is “hustle” type plays. Plays that no matter how bad you are off that night you could be making. To go off on them about rebounding is completely fair imo.

Well whatever he told them at halftime and I'm assuming it was that, they sure did respond in the second half and was more physical then LSU. Now I will say that we were subbing a lot of players in.

He said in the press conference, he changed their offense to counter our zone defense. We were switching defenders as the Vandy man moved around the court. He took advantage of the mismatch and drove the lane for easy baskets.
Fortunately we could match them point for point, except the lazy arse passes that they intercepted.
That is how they out scored us the second half.
Stackhouse impressed me with his press conference.

In a world where everyone wants to score 100, it's kinda refreshing to have a coach criticize his players' lack of tenacity particularly on defense, though. Let's see if that sinks in with Vandy in the future..

Interesting. I wonder how his coach at UNC, Dean Smith, would have handled that.

Stackhouse is a bad fit for college, would not shock me if he resigns
He needs to go back to NBA as an assistant and work his way up that way

Juwan Howard has made a pretty seamless adjustment

They're not very good anyway, but they were missing their top two scorers. I know that should not be an excuse, but it is reality.

Take Thomas and Smart out of LSU lineup, and LSU would struggle to score 60.

I'm sure the game intensity would have been different had they been at full strength.
