It is insane how much talent there was at receiver on that 2019 team. These guys are going to be a lot of fun to watch in the next few years. Hope they can avoid any career affecting injuries.

Man did the stars align that year and what a magical season we got to watch. I have already had the conversation man I really can't believe that OUR 2019 LSU tigers were GOAT in college football history. Glad myself and my sons got to enjoy every game together

I always though Jett’s was better than Chase to be honest. 3rd down and 10 in the Bama game, I was looking at JJ not Chase. Both still in the LSU hall of fame of course

Its futile to try and compare QB/WR's from different eras, but it is tough to argue that Chase isn't the best to play here, and inarguably had the single greatest season. That said, I would've loved to have seen Josh Reed in that 2019 offense. I have never seen a player in college football get separation better than Reed.

They were different players. The chemistry between Burrow and Jefferson to find the soft spot in the defense in the middle of the field is something we likely will never see again.

Josh Reed had better stats in less games than chase and didn’t have burrow. Both won the Biletnikoff award. Chase is the overall better career college/nfl though. Love chase but Josh didn’t quit also.

Best “college” LSU receiver.
1. Josh reed
2. Chase

This is defensible

But here you venture into necessary hyperbole.

Especially since

Jefferson

Was on the same team and has 3000 yards receiving in 2 years in the pros

Ok I will

There is still no argument as to why chase is better than Josh Reed at LSU in both of their careers.

Josh Reed was an extremely hard worker and a great college player. Chase was on a different level. Josh Reed is more like a Lance Moore, Chase is more like a a Devante Adams for some perspective.

You must have not been old enough to watch Josh Reed play

This is true and not true. He had more yards, but also didn’t compete with Justin Jefferson for Targets.

In 24 career games, Chase had 23 TDs
In 31 career games, Reed had 17 TDs.

I did watch Josh Reed and would rather have Chase on any college team.

Unfortunately your team would have lost because chase wouldn’t have played that year on your team. There’s nothing wrong with the 2nd best WR. Chase will end up being one of the all time greats.

Burrow threw 527 passes in 2019. Davey threw 367 passes in 2001. Plus when you have the goat at QB that kind of helps.

Reed had 52 more receptions and 774 more yards in less games than Chase. Chase had 6 more TD’s. Burrow threw 60 TD’s compared to Davey 18 that year.

Give it a fricking rest that year was during lockdowns and virtual class having to wear a stupid mask every where and be tested constantly for Covid which may have posed a threat to his family iirc. To just assume Chase would not have played in the past during normal circumstances when no other players were opting out btw is childish and petty on your part.

ETA: You can argue Reed on production but Chase is clearly the more physically talented player
