I put this thread on the scoreboard but wanted to bring it up on the rant for further discussion.

Our Oline is a direct product of our OL coach and his inability to identify talent at the tackle position. He has the belief that he can take raw athletic project tackles and mold them into good football players. The problem is that it has been proven that he can't. He couldn't at Auburn, and he can't now. Not 1 of his projects have worked out. The only one to see the field is Weathersby and we all see how that is working out.

Our lines also lack the nastiness that they used to be known for. It's not a coincidence that ever since we hired Jeff Grimes as OL coach that we literally can't move the ball on Bama because they're DLine sexually assaults our OL and Backfield.
We need to fire that guy with a quickness.

Unfortunately, it appears you may be correct.

He should have been gone a long time ago.

no argument here. I can stand here and try to defend a lot of things O is catching flack for but keeping Grimes on as OL coach is not one of them.

Grimes and Moffit is what you get and it's not a pretty combination.

This team really looks out of shape and not physically up to compete with a SEC team. We are weak

We can all agree he isn't a good coach and is a major part of the problem but he did himself no favors retaining Grimes

While your hatred of O has been well documented on this site, Can we keep the discussion in this thread on Criticisms or possible Defenses of Grimes?

O didn't recruit the shite storm that this Oline has become. 5 guys may have left on O's watch but they were Jeff Grimes's guys and He should have been able to influence at least a few of them to stay.

Having literally zero depth on either line will make you look out of shape quickly when playing a team with that type of pace.

Agree 100%. Too many athletic projects that we recruit that either never see the field or end being average guards. Our guys can't pass block the last 3 years. Don't recall who he has coached up to NFL caliber lineman. He has grossly underperformed to this point IMO. Like to see a change after this recruiting cycle is over.

I'd like to know who downvoted and what they disagree with in the OP.

Is there a Jeff Grimes fan out there?

No flame, I would honestly love to know what someone thinks he is doing right.

I do hold O personally responsible for the D line, that was his position he focused on

About O not a good head coach? I mean to be honest he isn't... I like O but I think this is way too much for him.

All his teams are usually sloppy, not much energy. he recruits well but other than that, as a head coach he really isn't made for it

To me it seems like they wanted to get rid of Miles, but keep a certain amount of holdover to the past. And I actually believe that is one of our bigger problems. Grimes is that type holdover. We needed a complete break from the last regime. We are still tied to the past. I know some Miles apologist will show up. Sorry to trigger them.

Here is why the Dline is not O's Fault:

He wasn't hired until AFTER the 2015 signing class. We have literally 1 DL on the team from either of those classes and that is Deondre Clarke, a career backup.

O was only on staff for 2016 and 2017 classes which include Rashard Lawrence, Ed Alexander, Glenn Logan, Tyler Shelvin, Neil Farrell, and Justin Thomas.

You can't Blame O for having no true Juniors or Seniors on this team. That was Brick Haley, John Chavis, and Les Miles's fault.
