If he don’t know how to throw after all the years he has been out of position at quarterback then he ain’t going to learn now. Quarterbacks are born not made.

It’s not about taking risks and throwing more 50-50 balls. It’s about trusting his eyes and letting the ball go before having to see a guy open.

There was a play against Auburn. It was a quick out to I think Thomas. I think it might have also been a rollout to the right. You could see plain as day, one on one coverage, it was gonna be open.

Daniels, instead of letting the ball go before Thomas made his break, which would have been an easy pitch and catch, just waited until Thomas was out of his break and waiting on the sideline to throw the ball.

This wouldn’t have been a huge play, but it should have been an easy 5 yards. I’m got gonna bitch and moan about Daniels as qb, but that was the play for me where it’s right there on tape for everyone to see he didn’t trust himself to just let the ball go. That ball should have been out 2 or 3 seconds earlier.

So it’s not about 50-50 balls and taking risks. It’s about trusting your eyes, trusting your preparation to know the coverage, and don’t wait for wr’s to get out of their breaks and open because then it’s too late.

How???

Because a senior quarterback with almost 30 starts is now admitting he has to throw the football

This dude right now is a faster Jordan Jefferson. The quicker we realize that the better.

The caveat to giving more opportunities is being accurate. You can’t just heave balls up or throw them a yard behind the receiver like he’s been doing on slants. Joe used throw balls back shoulder or up for grabs when the DB was beat and didn’t have time to look for the ball.

That’s not what Joe Burrow did. Half of Chase’s TDs were 50/50 balls, in the sense that, had the defender gotten his head turned around, the ball was there for the taking.

It was the same with OBJ. A lot of times he was covered but it was just throw it up and let him go get it.

I agree with that and it is not a quick fix, but if he doesn't know what he missing, he will never even try to fix it. He has to be shown what acceptable it and what isn't. It appears that after 3 years of either not grasping the concept, he just can't do it under pressure. He certainly isn't the only one, but to be even mildly successful in the college level passing game, he has to understand the concept and strive to do it. I'm not sure he does at the moment. I'll bet Nuss and Howard know because of their fathers, but they don't have the running ability of JD or they would most certainly be starting.

Burrow has stated publicly that if he saw his receiver looking at him with leverage where the defender wasn't looking, Burrow would throw it believing his receiver had the advantage and would catch more of the 50/50 balls. Of course, Burrow was able to throw the passes accurately enough to take advantage of the leverage.

Daniels needs to concentrate on both, the Rant can only concentrate on one thing, they could never walk and chew gum.
